They are changing to a Comfort Inn, but should be closed during the renovation.
We arrived, and had no toilet seat...they didn't move to us to another room, instead they sent THREE, shirtless worker men to put on a seat that didn't even fit. How can a room get a real CLEANING and the person doing the cleaning NOT notice there isn't a toilet seat? In fact, we waited so long that I went down to the front desk and asked for my own tools and a key to a vacant room...I was going to take the toilet seat off and move it myself.
We did not receive EITHER of our wake-up calls...on Friday or on Saturday morning, May 28 and 29.
The fire alarm went off about six times...in the HOUR that we were waiting for the new toilet seat.
They did NOT honor my AAA membership. The manager approved a 20% discount for Thursday night (because of the toilet seat), but did NOT offer any refund for the fire alarm or for the inconvenience of not receiving our wake-up calls. The girl at the front desk gave me a AAA discount for Friday night, but when I spoke with the manager (Thomas Sees) today (Tue., June 1) he said that she shouldn't have done that. They didn't OFFER AAA discounts on race weekend. Hmmmm.....
If you ever have to stay in Matthews, NC...do NOT stay at this hotel. It will soon be a Comfort Inn, and it certainly doesn't speak well for that organization either.
