As an "Army Brat" who grew up moving from base to base and staying in motels for weeks at a time, the Williams Family Motel brought back memories of the 1950s 1960s motel. It is one story and you park your car right outside your room. The rooms are very utilitarian. They are clean, the beds are good and firm, the water pressure is OUT OF THIS WORLD and there is loads of hot water in the morning. We stayed at the Wiliams establishment instead of paying $100+ to stay in Boone. Lucky us...It was a clean, safe, comfortable night at a fraction of the cost. A good beat for any traveler. Also, in the morning, go past the hospital and down to the Woodhaven Family Restaurant and grab a FANTASTIC breakfast with generous portions, friendly service and a great price. Also, don't follow your GPS...Ask the owners for directions, easy to get to and super close to the Wilkes Regional Medical Center.
