We were passing through the town while sightseeing on the Outer Banks when we saw this charming little cottage setting and decided to stay the night.
Entering our room for the first time was like stepping back in time. Clean, 50s and early 60s decor... I LOVED the tile in the bathroom, the two beds and the arrangement of the extra seating. We cooked dinner on our portable stove ( the room provided a refrigerator!) and sat back to dine in the screened porch. We walked along the beach at sunset and enjoyed coming back to our great little retro room later.
I have been longing to come back to this little jewel of a retreat ever since we left. Unfortunately, with the rise of normal cost of living this year, our budget won't allow us to stay at Edwards when we come back to the area for family business. But my memories of our first stay at Edwards is the entire reason why I'm stretching the budget to come back to visit rest of The Outer Banks and I think that is quite an endorsement in itself.
I highly recommend this place for anyone who treasures privacy, beautiful scenery, relaxation and great rooms. If I had my way, I wouldn't stay anywhere else while here.

We are here right now. It is perfect. Quiet and homey. Extremely clean. They leave you alone and let you do your own thing.

Free fast internet.
Coffee pot
Frig

We need nothing more. Everything is near by. If you need anything all you have to do is ask. Someone complained that they ask you to recycle. This is certainly not a bad thing!! It is one of the reasons this island is so clean. We will be back!

My wife and I spent 4 nights recently at Edwards and were completely happy and satisfied with our accomodations and the help from management. Although we had never been to Ocracoke or stayed at Edwards we knew to expect an older facility, but the age was more than compensated for by the cleanliness, quiet, and helpful staff. There is really nothing I can think of that I was dissatisfied with. We are already planning another trip to Ocracoke and plan on staying at Edwards. I'm sure there are other nice spots on the Island, but I know for a fact I like Edwards. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, quiet experience and who is willing to trade a few frills for something with character.

We stayed in the Lucky Duck cottage. You couldn't ask for a better vacation rental. It is a 3 bedroom/2 bath cottage that has everything you could want. It was like every need you could have was anticipated. My son didn't want to come home.
It was very secluded and private. I would gladly stay again. Beautiful beachy decor!

“Charming and perfect!”

Edwards of Ocracoke

We stayed at Edwards because it was the cheapest on the Island and we knew nothing about Okracoke. It ended up being our diamond in the rough. Not only was it very affordable (we stayed in a bungalow), but it was extremely clean. The decor is all 50's, 60's 70's and I found it very charming. The walls were a friendly yellow, it had retro lighting, a wind up alarm clock, and a beautiful pedestal sink in the bathroom. The place had a lot of character. There aren't a lot of amenities. We brought our own coffee pot, minifridge, and toaster and sat out on the rocking chairs on the front porch every morning and ate breakfast. We also brought our own mini-grill and purchased some fresh shrimp from someone in town, we brought steaks with us, and had a fantastic meal just grilling outside of our room. The owners were VERY helpful and gave us lots of honest tips and restaurant recommendations and we rented bikes right from the hotel. They gave us a great deal and it was nice to arrive, put our stuff in the room, and then go island exploring on our beach cruisers without having to shop around for bike rentals. Forget cars on the island, you will definitely want to rent bikes. The owners have all the local restaurant menu's in the office that you can check out before you go as well as brochures for activities on the island. The other nice thing about Edwards is it's not right in town but on a quite side street so it's very chill in the evenings. There's a great restaurant across the street (Back Porch), there's a good breakfast place right up the street, and the grocery store is also very close. Highly recommended, we loved our stay and will be back.
