We were in Pinehurst over Memorial Day weekend to attend a wedding. We stayed two nights at the Pinehurst Resort &CC and, once again, thoroughly enjoyed our visit. This was our 11th stay at this hotel and the staff goes out of their way to make it a pleasant experience. The hotel is old, but has been "modernized" several times over the years. There are all the expected comforts you would find in an upscale resort. The food in the main dining room is excellent, as is the service. We opted for a deluxe room rather than a standard, and for the price differential, it is well worth the expense. Our room was very large ---containing a large desk and work station and a very comfortable sitting area. One of our favorite activities is to rock on the huge porch at the hotel and watch the world go by. One of our party utilized the hotel spa and loved her experience. Of course, there is the golf. The courses are well maintained but very expensive.
A note of caution, a reservation at Pinehurst does not guarantee a room in the main hotel ( The Carolina ). Guests are also housed in a smaller property, The Holly Inn, in Pinehurst village. The Holly Inn is a short 10 minute stroll or free short shuttle ride away, and although it is also a lovely old historic property, the "action" is at the main hotel. I understand that some guests may also be housed in condos in the area. I would hope that would be only by choice. The main hotel is a large, lovely, historic, comfortable and casually elegant place, and is in my opinion, the lodging of choice in Pinehurst. The Pinehurst Resort is a true gem.

I'm a new woman golfer and decided on a last minute trip to Pinehurst
for a few lessons because it seemed like a wonderful spot to learn the sport. I am pleased to report that the Resort delivered everything I expected, and more. I was met by a friendly team at the front door that handled my luggage efficiently and took great care of me. Although my original room was less than perfect, I contacted Guest Services and was immediately assigned a new room. A member of the Guest Services team met me at the old room with new keys and resort card and then accompanied me to the new room to ensure that I was completely satisfied. I have done a considerable amount of business travel and this is the first time I have experienced this level of attentiveness and ease when changing rooms. As a woman traveling alone, I was also pleased with the flexibility of the meal plan. I enjoyed wonderful breakfasts in the Carolina Room (terrific staff there!) and dinners through room service or at the various casual venues throughout the Resort where I felt completely comfortable eating solo. The Spa is fantastic...truly wonderful facilities and I enjoyed one of the best massages I've ever had...get there early or stay late and enjoy everything it has to offer! Finally, I can't say enough about instruction through the Padgett Learning Center. I had fun and learned a great deal in 2 one hour lessons from Nate, my golf instructor. Unfortunately we were rained out for a third two hour playing lesson, but I fully intend to return in the near future when high winds and rain are not part of the weather picture. Thanks to all at Pinehurst who made my weekend such a great experience -- I can't wait to come back.

My wife and I made a return 3 day trip to Pinehurst from our new home in Calabash, NC for my birthday the first weekend in March. We again stayed at the 'Carolina' hotel on Pinehurst property. The room had been upgraded since our last visit to include a flat screen TV, new linens and some added shower items.
The main dining room was very crowded on all nights for dinner and we had to wait longer than I expected for service and our dinners, which were cold when they finally got to us. Breakfasts on the other hand are first rate and very tasty.
We played two new courses this time, Nos. 4 and 8. The day we played #4 was very windy and chiily, which made playing the course even more difficult. The next day when we played #8 (The Centennial course) was sunny and warmer. I enjoyed #8 much better than any of the other courses we've played there, including #2,4 and 5. We made a point to stop in Southern Pines on the way home to enjoy some shopping and dinner. There's a Starbucks in SP also.

We stayed at Pinehurst for just one night while travelling home and thoroughly enjoyed it. All staff members we encountered were very friendly and professional. Our newly renovated room at the Carolina was small but lovely and contained everything we required. I have read other reviews with complaints regarding the noise. Our room was at the end of the hall and we found it very quiet.
Dinner at 1895 restaurant was very good and we enjoyed the cosy atmosphere and the food. The veal was outstanding. Breakfast was above average buffet served in the Carolina Dining Room with live piano music. Huge selection of hot items including omlet and waffle station, lots of fresh fruit, bagel and lox etc.
Last but not least there is the golf. We had a memorable round on the No. 8 course. The course was as beautiful as it was challenging. We also enjoyed the history and golf memorabilia.
The village of Pinehurst is small but charming area for a stroll.
We would love to go back.

I stayed at Pinehurst for a three day business conference. The hotel was oversold so for the same price as a room in the Carolina I received a 2 bed/two bath condo on the golf course. The condo was pretty nice, nothing fancy, but it worked. Although it is a mile from the main hotel they will still pick you up in the shuttle and do room service.

The main hotel is beautiful. Some people complained that it was old and run down - but it is a national historic site with an amazing golf history. The oldness is part of the charm!

The staff couldn't be more friendly. One night we got back to our room after bar hopping. It was 2am and we were starving, but all town and hotel restaurants were closed and room service stopped 3 hours earlier. I called the hotel operator and explained my tipsy yet desperate hunger situation... she personally went to the hotel kitchen and found some left over box lunches for me and my friend. She then got the shuttle driver to go a mile over to our condo to personally hand deliver the food for FREE! That is some awesome customer service.
