Looking Glass Rock is a 3900+ft height rock formation. My review is about the 6.2 roundtrip hike to the top. The hike starts at the base of the rock in the Pisgah National Forest in NC. There's is a parking lot for only about 10 cars. The hike begins as a series of switchbacks that take you very high very quick. Once the switchbacks are over, you enter a rougher, steeper section, however very beautiful and diverse. If it has rained recently, expect your shoes to get wet. You will be walking in the shade for most of the trail. Dogs are allowed. The trail is rated "moderate" although it is quite demanding if you are not the athletic type. We are in decent shape yet not top hikers and had no problems, but we got in a good workout. Once you reach the rock slab at the top you will slapped in the face by the most breath taking view. Be overly cautious while up there for the chances for fatality are real. Enjoy the view and the experience, you are sure not to forget it.
