Eight thumbs up! It takes a while to get there through beach traffic, but it is worth every scrumptious bite. The four of us ordered: salmon, paella, blue corn crusted fish, and crab cakes. The menu is kind of laughable, because each dish lists a huge batch of ingredients which seemed like it would make for murky presentation and/or muddy flavors. Oh, so wrong. It is more like each dish has several components, so you get a bites of complementary flavors as you progress through the entree. Great beer, wine and martini menus. Wonderful warm and cozy decor with an open kitchen concept. We sat downstairs where you get to watch the kitchen and food plating area in full swing. What I loved most about this restaurant was not only the terrific food and drinks, but the genuinely happy and professional staff who seem naturally welcoming and relaxed. The two guys working the food plating area kept up a happy banter with the food runners, the hostesses, the wait staff , the patrons and each other. Everyone looked as though coming to work at M42 was a joy and the best party in town. But, having said that the food and drink just kept rolling out in scrumptious waves, with never a flaw or lapse in service. Someone at M42 certainly knows how to run a restaurant. PS You should dress up a little at this restaurant, maybe a clean, collared shirt with your shorts and flip flops.
