“Very nice hotel, but thin walls.”

Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites

My wife and I spent one night here between destinations. The hotel appears to be quite new and is very nice. Our room with a king size bed was large with lots of room to move around. Our room decorations and furniture were nice and included a microwave and refrigerator. Both our room and bath area were very clean.

The hotel is located in a nice neighborhood of other nice hotels and chain restaurants including Cracker Barrel, Carrabbas, Olive Garden and Ruby Tuesdays.

The breakfast area is large with plenty of tables. The breakfast bar had standard Holiday Inn Express items, including a choice of juices and cereals, breads, coffee, tea and milk, plus individually packaged sausage and biscuits for heating in the microwave.

The front desk people were pleasant and gave us a map of restaurants along the waterfront area (one of the local attractions), but had no personal knowledge about any of them.

But there were two things that made our stay less than ideal. First, the Internet service was down during our stay. Second, the walls are thin. Peope in another room somewhere in the hotel came in at 2:50 am (in the middle of the night) and played a concert with singing which woke both of us up and kept us awake for well over 30 minutes. And neither of us are light sleepers. At breakfast in the morning we overheard others also talking about this intrusion on their sleep.

On the assumption that very noisy guests and lack of Internet service are infrequent problems, we would consider staying here again, because the hotel itself is very nice.

We were very impressed with this hotel. It was VERY clean and staff was super friendly. Although the HOT BREAKFAST wasn't implemented yet, the breakfast offered was more than satisfactory. We will definitely stay here again. We stayed in the suite...with 3 children and felt we had plenty of room.

This is by far one of the best hotels I have stayed in. Not only was the hotel beautiful, the outside grounds were tastefully landscaped. Benches were available outside to relax on and listen to the sounds of the birds chirping. The staff were very friendly, helpful and courteous. I will definitely return if I'm in Wilmington in the future!!

We reserved a room for the Sunday night of Memorial Day weekend. The price was good. We arrived at 11:00 hoping to check in early. We could not. The lobby was nice and the staff was friendly. We came back at about 5:00. I'm not sure why, but it took the guy at the front desk a long time to find our room. I think they were still cleaning. We were given a room on the 5th floor. I don't like staying in Hotels because you never know what your room will look (or smell) like. Thankfully, when we opened the door to our room we weren't greated by anything unpleasant. The room was clean as was the bathroom. I'm very picky about stuff like this (as is my wife). We both were very happy with the room. The room had a microwave and a refrigerator. Both were unplugged, though. After plugging them in, I don't think the refrigerator was working. I didn't care, though, because I wasn't using it. I just thought it was nice that these items were included in the price of a standard room. They are usually extra. The beds were comfortable and I slept pretty well. The next morning we went down for the free continental breakfast. The food was fresh and being constantly restocked by the staff. All in all, a great breakfast (and free, too). Checkout was a breeze. Nothing to do, actually. I showed up at the desk and she said "You're all checked out, that copy is for you". I know this hotel is not on the beach, but the drive was only about 15 minutes. For the price and location, you can't go wrong.

Staff was friendly, room was clean, lots of good literature on the surrounding area. I would have given it a 5 if it were not for the hotel air conditioner condensor being located right next to the pool and made a heck of a racket when it was running. It was so loud we had to nearly yell to be able to converse above the noise while at the pool. Our room overlooked the pool and was concerned that the noise would be disturbing there too but it was not. The room was very quiet on the inside. Location was OK, close to pretty much everything you need and easy to find. It was about a 10 minute drive to Wrightsville Beach.
