My wife and I stayed in December, 2005. This is a small 40 suite hotel that has 'grown up' from a B&B. Our suite was beyond our expectation and had obviously been recently refurbished. Bright and clean and very comfortable with proper seperate bed and living rooms, and with an adequate bathroom. We enjoyed the rockers on the balcony even though it was December! Dinner in the private dining room in their antebellum mansion was excellent. A 'fresh start' breakfast was delivered to our suite each morning at the time of our choice, consisting of a yogert, juice and home baked biscuit. For bacon and egg lovers, which I am, there is a choice of suitable eateries close by. The staff were all very personable and helpful. Although they have wifi I wasn't travelling with my laptop, but a broadband connection was available to guests 24/7 in the lobby so accessing my email was no problem. Best of all, the whole property (suites, bars, dining rooms) is smoke free, although there are provisions for smokers outside. (And they really mean it, you sign a policy acceptance agreement on check-in which clearly states you will be surcharged an additional $300 if you smoke in your suite)! My wife suffers from allergies, so she loved it.
Being situated right downtown, and Wilmington being a 'safe' city, we were able to stroll around all the sights and restaurants within just a few blocks. Outstanding. Very relaxing.
