Very comfortable bed (I slept in for the first time in months) and an excellent (by hotel lobby standards) breakfast for an additional $10. Convenient enough, but it is located in the back of a strip mall, so not a ton of character.

I stayed in the JR. suite at the Hilton Garden Inn. Here's the positives:
1. Very new and very clean
2. Staff was pleasant enough
3. Breakfast was very good and lovely atmosphere
4. Pool was clean
5 Location was GREAT only about 5 minute drive to beach
6. Very Convenient to shops and restaurants
7. Free cookies at 5:30 delicious! (Reception desk)
Now the negatives:
1. Breakfast was a bit pricey at 9.95 per adult
2. Pool was small and basically in the parking lot with no privacy
3. Laudry facility (1 washer and 1 dryer)
4. Junior suite...odd shaped ...thin and narrow with one air vent
which made the lounge area (as you walk into the room) freezing cold and the bedroom warm. Also, there is no door to the bedroom. Although it is a suite it is only one room.
5. Overall cost for what you get overpriced.
Next time we go we would stay here again based on the location and being clean. However, we would also check out the Hampton inn and suites down the road.

Stayed at HGI for 4 days 3 nights and it jujst was not worth the price. The rooms are spacious, at least the junior suite was, and the sleep number bed was fine, but other than that, there was nothing to it. It was very noisy from the hallways, the window treatment was horrible. You could not close the blinds, just the thin panel and the light floods the room in the morning. The AC system was very loud when it came on. The staff was not very friendly at all. The worst thing is that they only change their sheets every three days. There was not any correspondence that tells you that, I guess you would just know if you were a frequent visitor of Hilton's. I normally stay with Marriott, but decided to give Hilton a chance, I mean it's Hilton. The breakfast was very overpriced at $10. The Flat Screen TV's are nice and all but for the price it just is not worth it. The housekeeping service is very important to me, and to only have the linens changes every 3 days is ridicolous. My room was not vacuumed nor was the tub actaully cleaned out. After the second day, i had to totally strip my bed to have it changed. Will not stay again.

I am picky about hotels but had a great experience here. It's new and clean, with comfortable linens and beds. They have flat screen TV's with free HBO (even HBO Latino and Signature) and Neutrogena products in the bathroom. They serve free coffee all day, and serve a buffet breakfast until 10:00 on weekdays. I found this a bit overpriced at nearly $10/person, but if you eat a lot then it's worth it. They also served the most delicious hot chocolate chip and macademia nut cookies at the front desk, also free.
And that brings me to more food: if you want to eat, you can walk or drive in 1 minute over to the Mayfaire plaza. There's an Atlanta Bread Company (we had breakfast there 2 out of the 3 days) and an Artisan Bakery, which served lunch. There's also a plethora of chain restaurants that have opened or will be opening soon. The stores were fabulous: if you want a swanky shop, it's there (White House/Black Market, Talbots, Banana Republic, J. Jill and Chicos, just to name a few).
The hotel is central to downtown Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach , and even with the summer traffic it didn't take us longer than 15 minutes to get anywhere.
Overall, a great hotel in a great location at what I found to be a reasonable price during beach season.
This hotel is practically brand new. The rooms are spacious with comfy beds, plasma tv's, granite countertops in the bathrooms. It's much quieter than the Hampton Inn, which is down the street. It does cost a bit more, but worth it. The hotel is within walking distance to Mayfaire Plaza - an upscale, outdoor shopping center, which has free outdoor concerts on Friday evenings. You can't beat the location. The beach is five minutes away and downtown, less than ten.
