“Three days Felt Like a Week!”

This historic home exceeded our expectations. First of all the
house is in pristine condition and was built in 1854. The
owners Dennis and Chuck made our stay very warm and
comfortable. We had room 3 in the front of the house. I must
say, even though the inn was full, the tranquility of this house
was amazing! The location superb and the breakfast wonderful.
Three days felt like a week purely because of the atmosphere,
the wonderful bed and shower in the room as well. I would
defintely recommend this Inn, as I feel it is the best B & B I have
ever experienced! Thanks Guys!

My boyfriend and I stayed at this property this summer and we were both absolutely impressed. We were immediately greeted upon entering and given a tour of the building and grounds, which are beautiful and breathtaking. After meeting a few other guests and having a freshly baked, still warm cookie, we were given a key and the owner offered assistance to help us take our belongings upstairs. It felt like a whirlwind of a greeting because we were treated as if we were two friends who were returning to stay, not merely paying customers.

After a wonderful glass of white wine (that I forgot to get the name of but would love to know), we were able to enjoy the warm summer night on the porch swing before walking to enjoy some of the very available and close sights. The owners gave a recommendation for dinner at Circa 1922, which was perfect for us and exactly what we were looking for, showing the owners know their guests and what they want. When we returned later that night, the house was quiet and secure and we could hear nothing of the other guests at all. I never did hear anyone walking around the halls or on the stairs, which surprised and delighted me.

The next morning we woke to the soft sounds of the music pumping in the house--this was soft music and not distracting and much better than a blaring alarm clock or phone call. I was worried about breakfast, as I'm quiet and not good around strangers, but the owners again helped everyone start conversations and it was soon a room of found strangers. Breakfast itself was absolutely wonderful and tasty (as was the coffee!). It's worth going just for the breakfast, which is healthy and a treat.

The entire experience was this way. Everything was wonderful, from the advice of where to go, the maps we were given, and the grounds and people themselves. I only hope I can return to enjoy the experience again.

My wife and I celebrated our wedding aniversary in a charming 8,000 square foot home with 7 other couples from different locations. Very enjoyable with special low-key service from the owners. Highly recommend.

My wife and I stayed at the Verandas for a weekend in August as a last minute getaway from the hustle and bustle of work. We were looking for something close to our home in Raleigh and historic Wilmington fit the bill. From the moment we booked our stay with Chuck to the day we left our stay in Wilmington was sensational. We have taken many vacations over the years but never have we had such a relaxing time as we did with Chuck and Dennis. The Verandas is simply beautiful and elegant. The house is impecable with so much history and warmth. If you like antiques you can't help but admire their collection. Chuck and Dennis have somehow managed to create a classicly stylized elegant Victorian feel while mantaining a warm and cozy experience. We've never seen anything like it, the moment you step into the Verandas you don't want to leave. Only a two block walk to the waterfront adds to the charm. We could go on and on for days about this inn. The Verandas is one of a kind, trust us you won't be disappointed.

After reading the reviews on this website my husband and I decided to stay here. We were not disappointed! This Victorian mansion was very charming. We stayed in room 5 and it is very much like the picture on the website looks. Chuck and Dennis have restored this house beautifully. Chuck did offer to help us with our luggage but we declined his offer since we had packed relatively light. The breakfast was absolutely amazing! They have a large dining room table set up along with two cozy tables set for 2. So we grabbed one of the tables set for 2 that was next to a large window and enjoyed the views outside. The large verandas on either side of the house are so nice to sit out on and enjoy the area. Horse drawn carriages stroll by every few minutes. Chuck gave us wonderful advice on lunch/dinner options. We ate at the Pilot House for lunch and Rim Wang Thai for dinner. Both were very good. The Pilot House has seating outside along the riverwalk so it provided a great atmosphere. We watched the 4th of July fireworks that night that were displayed across the river near the battleship. It was one of the best shows I have ever seen. Chuck warned us of the crowds and advised us to head down a bit early. The inn is located in the heart of Wilmington (corner of Second and Nun Streets) and it is very convenient to walk everywhere. It was great to be able to park right next to the inn and not have to worry about meters, etc. The next day, we wanted to go to the beach. Chuck let us know that Wrightsville Beach has an issue with parking and since it would be afternoon by the time we reached the beach we may spend a couple of hours searching for a parking place (and you have to pay for parking). We took his advice and went on down to Kure Beach where parking is free and plentious. The only problem I had at that beach was that there was seaweed everywhere! It may have just been the time of year we were there though. We ate at Jack MacKerels for lunch (another of Chuck's recommendations) and it was very good. Overall, this inn and the innkeepers are gems. Thanks for the wonderful stay!
