Because of a death in the family, we arrived in a rush and got a great room. I was leary because of the recent change from Hampton to Red Roof but the weekend turned out smooth. The bed was so comfy after the 6 hour drive and the room was very clean. Renovations were still going on so while my parents got a room with a fridge and microwave, our room--next door, didn't. When we requested extra towels, the housekeepers were quick to respond. Overall I would stay here again. Great location to everything. Target, Walmart, and many different restaurants. Yes, the rooms open to the outside but with the location I felt safe enough.

My husband and I stayed here from Midnight on April 7, 2007 until 9:30 am. The room was clean and typical for this type of hotel. We get the bill, it posts about a week after the stay. Then we get billed again for more money a week later. The managers have been contacted 6 times and will not resolve the double billing. My advice is to pay Cash!

I stayed at the Hampton Inn on Market St. three times between June and August 2006. I had none of the bad experiences that others are writing about. The only issues are 1. outside room entrances (I prefer inside but hubby prefers outside) and 2. no elevator as hubby has leg problems. They were very accomidating all three times at the front desk and with maid service.

Our rooms were clean upon check in and kept clean during our stay.. There was nothing wrong with the decor and the rooms were not damaged on any of our stays. This was obviously before the sale to Red Roof Inn so I can't say how it is now.

I've also stayed at the Hilton Riverside, Holiday Inn Express and several others in Wilmington when there on personal or business trips so I do have a good comparison base.

Red Roof Inn isn't on my normal list of places to stay so I doubt I would stay there now, but in the past when it was Hampton Inn, I had no problems what so ever. The fact that it was within walking distance of my favorite seafood restaurant, Hieronymous, is a plus.

But as I said, I had no problems during our stay at all. The front desk staff were very good to deal with and we had no issues with the room cleanliness or condition.
