Of all the places I have stayed (including 5 star international hotels), I would give the Tranquility Inn the highest rating possible. Leann, the innkeeper, is absolutely charming. We arrived about a half an hour early and she welcomed us with open arms and a huge smile! As soon as we walked in the house, I felt at home. The common rooms downstairs are absolutely beautiful and inviting. The personal touches in each room made me smile and ask more questions, which Leann enthusiastically answered. She then showed us to our room, The Costa Rican Breeze, and as soon as the door opened, I felt as though I had been transported to a tropical locale. The walls had beautiful hand paintings in each corner of palm trees and wild birds. It was not cartoonish, but very tastefully detailed. There are no TV's in any of the rooms and it was great! It was peaceful and quiet. The most impressive part of the room was the rainforest shower. I highly suggest this room for couples or others who truly need to relax. The bed is the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in.
Leann was a huge help, giving us not only suggestions for places to eat that were romantic, but she also had sample menus from most of Wilmington's restaurants. We chose her absolute favorite, Caprice Bistro, and we were NOT disappointed. It was romantic, delicious, and reasonably priced. In addition, the Inn is ideally located near downtown on a lovely quiet street. The Inn offers a traditional front porch with an inviting swing and a back porch with a lovely courtyard. The upstairs deck in the back of the house overlooks the beautiful flowers in the garden. The best part of our stay was feeling as though we had the whole house to ourselves. Even though there were other guests in the house, WE NEVER HEARD ANYONE! The next morning breakfast was casually served around 10. What an amazing chef Leann is! She made homemade waffles with an assortment of fruit and chocolate. My boyfriend especially enjoyed her offer for seconds after he inhaled the first plate. We then talked with her for another hour without feeling the typical rush of "checking out" by an exact time. Instead, she shared more about the house and herself. It felt more like friends having a conversation by the time we left. I am going back to Wilmington before September, and I already know there's no other place I would want to stay than the Tranquility Inn.
