“Just what we needed!”

This was our first visit to the area, and instead of risking it by choosing a hotel with 'local color,' we chose the Holiday Inn, especially after learning it was relatively new.

We weren't disappointed! The staff were friendly and the room was great. We had a top floor room with a balcony and view of the ocean.

We enjoyed the NON SMOKING lounge with live music and also had a nice breakfast.

The indoor pool was a nice treat since it was a little brisk our first day there. We didn't use them, but the outdoor pool was large and they had two hot tubs, and TONS of chairs for just laz-ing around.

Parking was free and available.

The only negatives I can find are:

The shower. You have to get wet to turn it on. And, when showering the pressure drops as if someone is flushing a toilet, leaving you with a nice hot jolt.

The cleaning staff. Why don't you knock? Each morning they would just barge in the room. Apparently knocking is out of the question.

Smoking. I realize it's North Carolina, but join the 21st century and prohibit smoking in the hotel, period. Just because our room was non-smoking doesn't mean the hotel didn't reek a little. No need for smoking at a Family Resort.

Attractively furnished room with Coastal Waterway view; exceptionally clean, with high quality linens. Staff were exceedingly polite and cooperative.

Areas that need improvement: Restaurant, where food is mediocre and over-priced; hallways and indoor poor, which have a bad odor.

All in all, a fine vacation experience.

This is a great family hotel. Nice rooms, good food, two big pools and a nice beach area. The hotel remodeled in the spring and it shows. The restaurant has good food at reasonable prices for the beach and free meals for the kids. Both the indoor and outdoor pools are big and nice. Two whirlpools but they were warm and not hot. There is a separate kiddie pool and small playground for the little ones. The beach area is clean and wide and the kids have a blast. A lifeguard is on the beach.

This is our 3rd visit to the hotel and I would definitely stay there again even though I think the room rates are a little high.

This was our third trip to the Holiday Inn. Apparently the rooms have been redone since our last trip. Very nice and relaxing small resort that will not wear you out just getting around. Great place for the kids with lots to do! Pool is wonderful, and obviously very busy on weekends. The beach is nice and the hotel has staff to bring you chairs,umbellas etc.

The food & service in the hotel restaurant was pretty good. Moreover, the entire hotel staff is well trained and attentive to your needs. I recommend this hotel all the time to family and friends and have not disappointed anyone to my knowledge yet.

We stayed here from May 25-28. Overall it is in a great location and we had an oceanview room that had a great view. This was our third time staying here and we have enjoyed it. The rooms went under a remodel and they redid the bed, carpet, couch, and a new flat screen tv that is nice. However in the bathroom they missed a few things the
tiles were stained and also one tile was busted and had to be careful
when stepping out of the shower. Also the shower head was hanging out
of the wall. We were surprised that there was no closet to hang up clothes or an iron. The housekeeper did a great job with keeping the room stocked with towels and amenities and the restaurant was really good. Pool is ok but get there early cause alot of people go there when it opens drop their stuff off and then leave for hours. Overall
it was a good stay.
