After my group finally decided on Sunny Beach as our holiday destination, we chose poseidon apartments as part of a package holiday through Barrhead travel. We stayed here for one week, self catering. I'm so glad we made that choice, as it was a fabulous holiday!
When we got to the hotel, we realised that it was right across from a hotel called the 'Majestic' - where the Manchester united player Berbatov was supposdely staying. it was definetely the posh end of the resort. A ten to fifteen minute walk away to the main strip where all the nightlife happens though. The entrance to the hotel looked very nice, and we were glad to have a 24 hour mini supermarket inside it meaning we could buy snacks for our room at four in the morning.
We arrived at the reception in the early hours of the morning, and went over to hand our passports at the desk (a custom in the area) and collect our room keys. We purchased one safe between the lot of us, as they were quite expensive. The interior of the hotel was shaped like a boat, and was very spacious.
We had three rooms between us. Each had a main living space, complete with a mini kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. We also had a lovely balcony. The only things i would say were missing were a shower curtain (the bathroom floor became quite wet with three girls all having long showers!) and washing up equipment for doing the dishes (for when we decided to eat lunch in our room). However i would certainly give our hotel room a much greater rating than the 'three stars' that it is.
The next morning we attended the welcome meeting. During it, the details of many day time excursions and the likes were given, and then details of the 'twenties' trips were given. Being aged 18-19, we decided to attend two twenties bar crawls, and also the large water park (the further away one is better). The first night we ate out at a local stakehouse, however the next night we decided to try the hotel for food. The food was really cheap, and the service was great. Top quality! We also took advantage of 'happy hour' where the cocktails are buy one get one free. Very nice indeed! We ate in the hotel most lunches as well. They had a lot of british foods, such as good old heinz beans on toast as well!
We also spent a lot of time by the pool. Being a large group (eight people) we found it more difficult to get sunbeds together, so we generally used the one's by the kids pool. They had one of those aqua balls in the pool, the one's you step inside. There was a very mixed group of people at the hotel. Many were from the likes of Germany and Spain. Most people of our own age we met through the 'twenties' activities at nights.
Overall, it was an excellent holiday! I'd recommend the hotel for groups of friends like ourselves, as well as families and couples. Really excellent value for money!
