There may be many places to stay along Francois Lake's 80-mile long length, but this is the only one we know of nearest the west end. The resort offers three two-bedroom single-story cabins or individual rooms on either floor of two two-floor cabins near the store/restaurant.
The single-story cabins have a twin bed in one of the bedrooms, bunk beds in the other, and a futon-sofa in the main room. The indoor plumbing (including hot showers) worked well, and the kitchen had refrigerator, toaster oven, and coffee maker. It was stocked with plates, cups, utensils, and coffee, powdered cream, and sugar. Since it is about a 45-minute drive from "downtown" Burns Lake, we ended up cooking ourselves three nights and eating at the restaurant one night. Our cabin cost us about CDN $200 per night including tax.
The property also has fire rings and picnic tables along the lakeshore on the point (right across the road from the cabins and store). One night we built a campfire and roasted marshmallows after the mosquitoes went to bed for the night. It is hard to imagine a more relaxing place for our kids to play and the grownups to fish and enjoy the outdoors. The store has candy, fishing licenses and sundry items for sale, and the restaurant can accomodate about 30 people. We rented a boat with outboard motor to take out fishing, and we found rainbow trout where we caught them 20+ years ago the last time we visited the area.
The owners were very pleasant and accomodating. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely go back.
