I am a bit surprised to read some of the other reviews of this resort. All I can say is - you get what you pay for. If you are going to Panorama expecting Whistler then you will be dissapointed. However, there is nothing wrong with a place simply because it is not exactly like another.
If you want to stay at the Pine Inn, then don't go complaining about the accomodations as it's not comparable to a motel - it IS a motel. If you have kids and you want a nice visit, then stay at the Panorama Springs or one of the other lodges near the hot pools. They are very nice condo's and the laundry facilities in the buidings makes life easy if you are staying for several days.
The pools are great during the summer, it does get hot and they don't have air conditioning but it normally does cool down at night, and without humidity most people shouldn't be too upset about no A/C.
If you plan to barbeque in the summer, then bring your own tools - if you plan to cook bring any pans or knives or tools you need which are outside of the basic gadgets. Also, bring your own laundry detergent and fabric sheets. We bring our own pool towels as well as the ones they offer are fine but they aren't very big.
The restaurants are very limited during the summer, remember this is a ski hill, so planning your meals in advance and stopping at the Sobey's in Invermere before taking the drive to Panorama is a good idea, especially if travelling with small children.
Also don't arrive at 3 and expect your room to be ready - read the fine print, they do say after 5 pm and although we have not yet had to wait til that late to get our room, we do know that could be the case next time we go. I have been told before that if you have to wait much past 5 they are very accomodating about buying you dinner etc. So if you go in the summer then be prepared to park your vehicle, and then just go for a swim, packing a seperate bag to take to the pools is a good idea - or similarly if you get there early and want to ski before your room is ready.
Otherwise it's a fantastic place, the views are wonderful, the service, from our three stays there so far, has been great.
The only thing is the housekeeping isn't over the top - and they only do maid service every three days - so when you do check in, don't scream in shock if you see dust on the lamps in the bedroom or on the tv - this isn't the Ritz Carleton remember, and thankfully so, as most people would not be able to afford it if it were.
