A very quaint hotel. We spent only one night here (25 Mar 2008) but it was lovely. Lots of character.

Located on a fairly quiet street, our room for three had wonderful large windows and two overhead fans. Unfortunately, it was unseasonably warm so we had to keep both fans (noisy in the middle of the night) going and the windows open. Also if you had the water on full in the shower of a very spacious bathroom, the bathroom floor would flood but everything else (hot water, toilets) worked. English wasn't spoken and we didn't speak any Spanish beyond Hola but it didn't seem to matter. There's an old world charm to this hotel.

Breakfast was the standard eggs, bacon, toast (as with pkg tours, we went independant) but it was held in on lovely outside patio. Very nice.

Our first night in Mexico on a Copper Canyon trip was spent here and what a great introduction.
The host was very cordial and the rooms outstanding, the courtyard welcoming, and the food was the best we had on the whole trip.
The nesting hummingbird in the courtyard was a plus!
Only regret was our late arrival and early departure—would like to visit again.

We stayed in 'TORRES DEL FUERTE' hotel on 12/28/2007. It's a wonderful hotel. The owner did his very best that we would feel right at home. The rooms are beautifully decorated, the cuisine is the best we encountered on our 10 days trip to COPPER CANYON, the yard is the place you don't want to leave. I highly recommend it to everybody.

On a recent Copper Canyon tour with 'A Closer Look Tours" out of PHX we stayed at this wonderfully restored 300 yr old hacienda in the colonial city of El Fuerte. The entire trip was delightful, but this hotel was a hightlight for me. Senor Torres was born on the property and is running it as if we were family guests, no numbers or installed locks on the ancient wooden doors, no cash register in the bar, (of course he could provide a lock if desired, and we had to track him down to pay for our bottles of wine!) It was a wonderful enough experiece to stroll the grounds and sit at the most charming cantina, but the entire evening was greatly enhanced in the dining room with the most delicious black bass dinner imaginable. Every room is decorated in a high style using unusual color combinations and eclectic furniture. The shower stalls were enormous and crafted from huge rocks which was somehow very sensuous ...
! Senor Torres said that he will be installing a swimming pool and is at work on a day spa. This will be a grand girlfiend or honeymoon weekend when those are complete!
