We loved it, loved it, loved it!
Because of an odd flight from Hawaii (we went for a friends's wedding) we ended up arriving in Puerto Vallarta at midnight. We were met prior to baggage claim by a representative from the company that transferred us to Casa Las Brisas. It is about a 45 minute drive and better seen during the day when you can get a look at your surroundings and check out some non-touristy, traditional cities. There was some construction close to the hotel but nothing too uncomfortable. When we arrived at the house, (close to 1 AM), Memo and Manuel greeted us at the door with warm smiles saying, "Welcome Home!" They took us to our room, offerred us cheese and fruit and showed us where our fully stocked mini-fridge was hidden so that we could enjoy a frosty cerveza and relax. We decided approximatley 15 minutes later that this was a place we would return to time and time again. The remaining seven days did nothing but reaffirm our initial feelings of Casa Las Brisas.
The rooms are incredible! It seems as though they have thought of everything! The bed was so comfy with really nice linens that feel especially good on sunburned legs. They provided robes, hairdryers, and even I-Pod stations for all you techies. The shower was immense and in answer to several prior reviews I have read...the water was HOT! Each room has a balcony that overlooks the pool or the beach. It is the special touches that make it- everynight while we were at dinner someone would come and cover our bed with a white linen canopy, add flowers to the pillow, and dim the lights.
The food was great. There is a lot to chose from for breakfast, although my husband ate an omelet every single morning he swore they were so good. Dinner was really special with all of the tables pulled out on the porch overlooking the beach so that you could watch the sun set over the ridge just beyond the house. The four course dinners were really scrumptous and you never left the table hungry or dis-satisfied. We have to admit that the soups were our favorite and we would speculate everyday what the chef would delight us with that evening...if you get the good fortune and the cream of poblano chili soup is on your nightly menu...TRY IT!!! Having said all of that, lunch was our favorite. They always prepared tradidtional Mexican fare- ceviche, quesidillas, chicken mole, and fresh guacamole and pico de gallo everyday.
Now on the beverages, of which we drank many. To reiterate what everyone says, "The margarita's are STRONG!" We were so badly wounded by them the first day that we hesitated to try them the rest of the week. In general, the alcohol was plentiful...the staff was always around asking if you were ready for a re-fill. We casually asked the first day what we should do if we wanted a drink and the staff was gone and they told us to help our selves...treat it like it was our house.
While the lodgings, the food, and the beverages were far above par, it was the service that really made our stay fantastic! All of the guys, Roberto, Memo, Lalo, Semi, Maurico, and Manuel were great! We left the trip feeling like we had made six new friends...they are some of the most warm, welcoming, friendly, and accomodating people we have ever met!
As a fairly seasoned traveler, this was hands down the best vacation I have ever taken. We will be returning and bringing friends with us. If you have already booked and are reading this review in prepartion, you will not be disappointed...if you havent booked yet, let me assure you that you will not regret it.
