The Wasdale Head Inn is an excellent base for walking the high fells. We didn’t need to move the car during our four night visit.
The Inn is a great place to stay and all of the staff are friendly, cheerful and helpful.
We stayed in a superior room in the adjacent converted barn which was well appointed and benefited from its own sitting area with a large flat screen television, as well as an outside seat looking towards the stream. Our room had a good modern bathroom with a bath which is important to us after a hard day on the fells! There was a good range of toiletries, water, biscuits, magazines etc in the room.
The food was fairly typical pub food but of a good standard and generous portions. We ate in the restaurant on the first two nights but unfortunately this is closed on a Monday and Tuesday night and being a Bank Holiday weekend the bar was very busy. Packed lunches can be provided which we found to be very good as there is nowhere else nearby to buy sandwiches.
The Inn has a very pleasant residents lounge with lots of outdoor magazines, perfect for planning your next walk!
