We ended up in the Bulls Head after trying a few other places by telephone and being told they were fully occupied. How glad we were!!
The place was lovely, warm and welcoming. When you walked in, there was a lovely log fire to your right with nice leather armchairs around it giving the place a nice 'living room effect' and a lovely little black and white cat chilling out on one of the bar stools straight ahead!!
We checked in at the bar and were shown to our rooms. We were given a key to the back door straight from the car park to save us having to walk through the bar every time to our room.
The food was very tasty indeed and the service was excellent. There was a wide variety of meals and I could not make my mind up between the pork belly or the stuffed chicken in bacon. Chicken won with a nice cream sauce and mustard mash.
The breakfast was filling - cereal, followed by a full english (there was even marmite for the toast - and I am in the 'Love it' brigade!).
Staff were very friendly and helpful. There was a little hiccup with the bill when we were leaving but that was sorted out straight away.
We will definitely be returning in the next few weeks for another relaxing weekend!
I would try and avoid Room 4. It was over the kitchen and you could smell drains through the plugho...
