We usually stay at the Arora Gatwick but were tempted by the Felbridge's new refurbishment and the pool complex.
We booked a hotel and 15 day parking package via holidayextras and arrived about 5pm on the Monday. Pool is lovely but more for relaxing in rather than swimming lengths as it's an irregular shape. Jacuzzi was a nice alternative too. If we'd had more time we'd have booked spa treatment at their Chakra spa.
Parking was easy enough and the car stayed where it was for the 11 nights. You hand your key in though just incase but you write the mileage on the slip. Privat taxi transfer to Gatiwck is £12.50 each way....much better than having to drive to a car park, get a courtesy bus etc etc. You prepar both ways as this is a special rate that the hotel has with a local taxi firm.
The lobby is elegant and warm in beige tones and all staff were very professional. Hallways to rooms were freezing and it's a bit of a maze but we found our room easily enough. It was well refurbished, in neutral tones and contemporary style. Ours had small balcony off it which we didn't use due to the temperature. The bathroom was nice, inviting an clean with good products. The room itself though was tiny tiny tiny (just a standard room). Probably the smallest hotel room I've ever stayed in anywhere(or have I just been lucky in the past?!?). Also, oddly there was no 'entrance hall' - I know that sounds strange but usually you have a few feet of walkway before you enter the main bedroom area....our room didn't, so without it the bed was only about 3' from the door. This meant anyone walking in the hallway was easily heard. Luckily we asked for a higher floor in a quiet part of the hotel. I'd also advise anyone to consider paying the extra to upgrade to a the next room type (bigger) if staying more than one night. That said, in our case it was only one night and the bed was comfy enough, the room was spotless and it did the job.
The Bay Tree Brasserie was lovely. A bit confusing as the sign above the dining area only says "Anise" (their fine dining restaurant) but the Bay Tree is in fact in there too. I had the porcini mushroom risotto which was absolutely delicious - best risotto I've ever had, and my husband had the sirloin steak. His wasn't the best but nothing to complain about.
Overall we had a pleasant enough stay. The main draw for us was the pool complex. As it turned out we only went in it for about 45 mins, so I think next time we'll go back to Arora assuming the rate is similar as we find it a bit more comfortable overall. I would say this is only down to personal taste though, and that The Felbridge at the right price is a reliable option.
