“A great little hotel”

Felbridge Hotel

12 Jun 2008

We stayed at the Felbridge for 1 night prior to flying out from Gatwick early the next morning. It is a lovely hotel with excellent staff and we were made to feel most welcome from the moment we arrived even though we were only staying 1 night. The hotel is very modern with both the public rooms and the bedrooms designed to a very high standard. The drinks and the bar snacks were a bit on the high side , it is a hotel after all, but if you want cheap eats try the Star Pub about 200 yards down the road, its got a nice atmosphere and pub grub. There was no hassle at all leaving the car for 8 days and the taxi transfer to Gatwick was excellent value at £3.50 per person each way .... the taxi was 5 minutes early to pick us up and arrived at Gatwick 10 minutes after we phoned. All in all an excellent experience ...... this is a privately owned hotel and you can feel the pride the staff have in making your stay memorable.

“Okay but not enough for the price”

Felbridge Hotel

The Felbridge Hotel has been recently renovated and refurbished and according to the local people it is very nicely done but the prices went up so much and they are right. We did have a deal though because of a large amount of people staying there for a wedding but we still thought the rooms were quite small and the walls were paper thin therefore we could hear everything what other people were talking about. You don't even need to be loud...
The floor was very squeaky when our neighbors above were walking early in the morning.
The good point is the free usage of the pool and jacuzzi. The area is very clean and I was the only one using the jacuzzi at around 11.00am on Saturday morning. The breakfast was very generous and tasty and so much to choose from. I wouldn't have stayed here for the original price and I still think even the "deal" price was too expensive as you pay for the new decor and not for the nice size of the bed or room! Staff were friendly and helpful though.

“Felbridge is OK, but expensive for what you get”

I stayed at the Felbridge while on business for about 10 days in May 2008. The "Deluxe Double" room was nice, no complaints at all about the room or bathroom other than the bathroom features a shower only (albeit a nice one) and no tub. The air conditioning worked well, a nice "plus" considering that many English hotels don't have that amenity. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the decor was very nice. I understand that the hotel was recently renovated, and I can say they have done a nice job.

The health club was adequate, although nothing special. For cardio equipment they have a treadmill, upright bicycle, rowing machine, and a strange stair stepper/ski machine that I found quite uncomfortable, but might be better for women. I would have appreciated an elliptical cross-trainer more. The pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna are nice, clean, and well kept up.

The location is OK, with a decent Chinese restaurant and pub located very close, and a gas station with beer, wine, sandwiches, coffee, etc. across the street. A walk to downtown East Grinstead takes about 25 minutes and isn't difficult. THere is also a bus stop very close.

My main issue with the hotel was the food. It's not an inexpensive hotel, and if breakfast is included, the selection of foods at breakfast should have been more extensive, and perhaps serviced better. Juice, break, etc. often ran out, and the selection of foods on the breakfast buffet was somewhat limited. A few nicer breads, maybe some cheeses, and a non-fat milk offering would give the breakfast buffet a little more credibility. The service was OK, but coffee should have been easier to get; on a few days I had to seek out someone to get a cup of coffee after waiting for about 5 minutes for someone to come around.

All in all the hotel was nice, but a feel that they need to address a few issues.

“Very good facilities”

Felbridge Hotel

13 May 2008

Excellent spa facilities, and we were the only ones using them at the time, so it was very relaxing. The hotel has recently been refurbished and has very good facilities. We only stayed one night before a flight from Gatwick but were impressed. The taxi service from the hotel to the airport was very prompt, although we waited some time for the return taxi (not the fault of the hotel though). The hotel has good restaurant facilities, but we opted to stroll along to a nearby pub for something to eat and drink which was really nice. The room was quite small but fine for just one night, the toiletries in the room were very good quality. I would definitely use the hotel again, its very good value for money compared to some other Gatwick hotels we have used. Tthe service at reception and in the spa was very good.

We stayed here for our anniversary in February 08. We choose this hotel as we had stayed here some 8 years ago before we got married as a stop off before flying from gatwick. I had heard it had been recently revamped and yes it cetainly had. We were upgraded to a junior suite and it was lovely. Couldnt fault the cleanliness. The spa and pool were lovely and the staff extremely helpful. Would definitely stay again. Only thing we didnt like the breakfast it had been cooked for sometime (we had breakfast around 9am) and just left in covered dishes ok if you like luke warm food.
