We spent 5 days in a 2 bedroom unit at Sails on Horseshoe Bay in July 2006. There were 2 downstairs bedrooms, one with queen size bed, the other with a single bed & a pull out trundle bed , suitable for our 2 daughters. The main bathroom is downstairs. Our son slept in the upstairs lounge area on the fold out sofa bed. The kitchen had all that a family needs including full stove, microwave & large fridge. A laundry & second toilet complete the picture. There was aircondtioning in the bedrooms & lounge.
A large balcony provided sea glimpes. Try & book ahead & ask for a sea view as the property is just across a quiet street from the beautiful Horse Shoe Bay beach. Horse Shoe Bay is the place to stay on Magnetic Island. The beach faces north & is bathed in sunshine all day long. It is the hub of all the water activities & we enjoyed jet skiing & canoeing.
The poisition of Sails is perfect. It is a one minute walk to the pristine beach & a 2 minute walk to the shops/cafes. It is a very small town & 5 days was enough for our teenagers who demand more action. However we all enjoyed our Magnetic Island break & were blessed with great weather.
Sails is getting a little tardy, hence it didn't receive a perfect rating from us. A bit of paint & some new furnishings would give it 5 stars. Yet don't be put off, it is a very comfortable, pleasant place to stay in a brilliant position.
