This hotel is situated in one of the few ( the only ??) place in Maharashtra, India , that does not allow any vehicular traffic at all - access is by horse-back or human-powered rickshaw.
This has prevented trees from being felled to make way for roads -- which is the charm of this tiny Hill-station.
Lords Central Hotel is situated in the heart of the small and quaint bazaar, and keeps up all the traditions of the old days -- though I was sorry to see that the five-course meals, served by waiters in full livery and plumed turbans, has given way to a more conventional buffet. The food , however, was excellent and plentiful ( but no desserts ???)
The rooms were small and cosy -- somewhat old-fashioned, but then, thats the charm of the place. The toilets were clean and up-to-date, which is what mattered to us.
The owners are very charming and friendly, and go out of their way to make you feel at home.
A very pleasant place to spend a week-end -- or longer, if you enjoy long walks under the trees, and horse-riding !
