We had absolutely no complaints about this hotel - its a very clean white walled, tiled floored , simply furnished hotel
Foyer - large - simply furnished - but no ambience
Restaurant - large with outside terrace - very good food and service
Bedrooms - simply furnished but very clean
Hotel had quite a few stairs with no bannisters
A basic 4 star in comparison to other hotels of similar star rating throughout the med.

Returned from a 2 week break on 22 May and it has been one of the most relaxing holidays I have had.
Hotel was very clean and staff were the friendliest I have met in a long time from the hotel manager to the cleaners.
Food in restaurant was varied with plenty of choice and waiters were very pleasant and even when very busy were alway polite and service was with a smile.
Entertainment was low key and there was never any pressure to "join in" the daily activities as I have had at previous hotels and both Astrid and Janetta the animation girls are to be commended on the hard work they both did during the day and in the evening.
Pool area was nice and hotel was far enough out of town to be private but near enough if you wanted some more liveley nightlife.
Overall a great hotel to just chill out and I would recommend it to anyone seeking a peaceful break

“Hotel with the Minos touch!”

King Minos Palace Hotel

Greek mythology warrior King Minos would be mightily proud of this palace named after him. Not that this is a palace - it’s a 4-star hotel on the eastern tip of the resort of Hersonissos, Crete, and a damn good one it is to.
Everything you want from a good hotel is here - very friendly and competent staff; an impressive layout in very pleasant surroundings; rooms of a good size; the hotels public areas, bars, restaurants, guest rooms and gardens kept spotlessly clean; a magnificent pool area, and above all, the food is of a very high standard.
One slight worry some people may have is that the vast majority of the rooms have ‘shared’ balconies; that’s to say the balconies are only separated by a very low rail/wall. Is this a minus for the Minos? It’s your choice.
It’s takes around five minutes to walk to the start of the 2km stretch of shops, bars, restaurants, etc, that make up the resort of Hersonissos and a good half hour to stroll to the harbour.
The hotel is quite sophisticated but the resort is most certainly not. It’s a lively place, particularly in July and August. In May, however, when my wife and I went, Hersonissos is much less lively but none the less busy enough to have an interesting people-watching stroll after evening meal.
It is is very unfair to describe the resort as “sleezy”, as one well-known tour guide does.
There are plenty of good quality bars and restaurants and the shops (in the main) are very well presented. The shops in the streets leading to the lively harbour area are particularly impressive, many of them selling designer clothes which were way beyond our pocket!
There are a number of beaches stretching from Hersonisssos all the way to Malia in the east. The more interesting and less busy ones are to be found walking along the coastline towards Stallis.
One last tip; hire a car and explore the majestic mountains of Crete. The scenery here is quite stunning and has to be some of the best in the whole of the Mediterranean.

“A Great Hotel”

King Minos Palace Hotel

20 May 2008

My wife and I travelled with our two best friends to stay at King Minos Palace for a lazy week away in the early summer sunshine with the sole intention of relaxing and soaking up the sun. We were very pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the hotel and could see the results of the recent refurbishment in almost every area. The only negatives for us were the uncomfortably hard beds and the fact that the 'hot' items on the breakfast buffet were usually quite cold. Everything else was first class. A special mention for the Head Waiter who should be an entertainer, very funny guy! Also Georgio and Manos in the taverna bar, great guys. The two Animation girls, Astrid and Janetta were good fun and very professional. All in all a very good package!! However, I would not go to Hersonnisos in high season, it looks like an 18 - 30 hellhole!! Perfect out of season but only for the young and lively in peak months. I am a very young 55 by the way. The hotel is a good walk away from any potential noise. Go and enjoy, we did!!

I've just come back from a week's stay at King Minos Palace with my husband and parents. The hotel was lovely, the dector was clean, fresh and fitting to it's 4 star rating. The staff were really friendly, welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The food in the restaurant was to our liking and couldn't really fault it. The head waiter had a great rapor with the guests and was very professional at all times. The food in the pool bar is recommended, although the cost of drinks in there and the restaurant was very pricey.

The entertainment was quite low key which was quite suitable for the guests staying there. I would say that the majority of guests there were mature couples and friends. Not many people with families seemed to be there although there were some young couples, some with babies.

In the town itself and surrounding villages we found that Crete was not a cheap place to stay, but this did not put us off as the people, the cuisine and places to visit were great.

Recommended.
