This is a lovely hotel. Very English in character.
We had booked a standard room, but they contacted us twice to let us know they had a Prom' that night and had transferred us to their best room - number 21 - so that we were not disturbed by any noise. In fact the students were all about 16, very well behaved and we didn't hear a thing. We enjoyed watching them arrive in their finery, competing in the uniqueness of ther transport - the rickshaw won!
The room was lovely, very large with a huge four poster bed and a smart modern bathroom. The whole hotel has a very appealing lived and used feel. It's a fantastic escape from the corporate chain type hotel, very relaxed and with pretty gardens.
Breakfast is freshly cooked to order and plenty of it and dinner was excellent, tasty and well presented.
A previous guest commented on a dead bluebottle in the window - Our room was very clean and yes, there was a small dead fly on a window sill in one of the public areas - so what? It's a house in the countryside - you open the windows and things fly in and die. We loved it and are really looking forward to going back.
