If you're mad enough to visit Norfolk in December this is the place to stay - and visiting off peak certainly has it's advantages! We were upgraded to a four poster room - which was simply the best hotel room I've ever stayed in. The biggest, most comfortable bed, sofas and chairs and a bathroom bigger than most London hotel rooms!! The doors opened straight onto the garden - which I can imagine would be really lovely in the summer. After unpacking we spent a couple of hours in the library with tea and scones and the newspapers - oure relaxation!
Most of the reviews on this site have given overwhelming praise to the service and I can put agree. The owners, Lindsey and Dom are friendly, accomodating but not at all intrusive. Lindsey is a wealth of knowledge about the local areas and was happy to recommend walks and lend maps. The excellent service was not limited to the owners - all of the staff - from front of house to the waitresses were polite and knowledgeable.
The only tiny downside was the food which was very good but a little limited as the menu doesn't offer a huge range (to be expected when everything is cooked fresh) and changes on a monthly basis. So if you were staying more than a couple of nights and didn't fancy the special it could be repetative.
