Having gone shopping till I dropped, I didn't arrive at the hotel until midnight, but was greeted by friendly staff; the hotel benefitting from 24 hr checking in facilities. I was exhausted by this time (had travelled down from Manchester before the shopping and then had a night out) so I was pretty confident that I would fall asleep as soon as my head touched the pillow. But I hadn't bargained for the noise of the M25! It was an endless stream of cars, vans, lorry's (I know because at 1:30am, 2:30am, 3:15am and 6am I was standing at my bedroom window watching them!).
This was more than a shame (not least because I was shattered the next day) but because otherwise, the hotel had been ideal. Lovely spacious room; toilettries and a hairdryer provided; sky tv and the best breakfast choices I have had in a long time. Luckily the breakfast was mainly self service so I was able to drink copious amounts of coffee before the meeting I had travelled down for, but I had to take a nap in a car park on the drive home as I could hardly keep my eyes open through lack of sleep.
I presume that the rooms on the opposite side of the corridor would be quieter (as my room faced directly oto the M25) and would suggest if anyone was trying the hotel out that they specifically ask for rooms there. Sadly, I won't be trying the hotel again though, as much as I was impressed with the furnishings, staff and breakfast, the most important thing would have been to have a good night's sleep!
