Took a group last weekend on a premium entertainment break to the Dunkenhalgh. We stayed 3 nights and it was lovely. The hotel itself is 700 years old and full of character. There are of course modern extensions but they've been sympathetically done and the whole hotel's decor is elegantly understated. There are different areas of bedrooms - Pendle wing with very modern exec rooms & tasteful with a hint of chinz standard rooms & lift to all floors; Townley wing with beautiful first floor classic rooms but no lift, Courtyard rooms which a few are smaller than the other rooms but are still tastefully done & in a pretty courtyard setting handy for the bar, restaurant & spa and the main building rooms which have gorgeous rooms like the bridal suites but many of the rooms are quite quirky & older & are difficult to get to along narrow, windy passages with steps - not suitable for mobility problems. Breakfast was very good with a lot of variety and our 3 course half board dinners were very good quality, if a little limited on options, especially the desserts! There's also a very comfortable coffee lounge by the spa that serves drink & light meals & snacks. The spa area is beautiful - lovely pool & jacuzzi & a choice of 5 steam/sauna rooms plus treatments - I had a very good massage by Rebecca. The entertainment was a different tribute act each night and they were first class! Unfortunately, as in most good quality hotels, the bar prices were too expensive - when will hotels learn if they lower their prices, people will buy more & not drink their own! However, that said I would definitely return as would all the other 48 passengers that were with me!
