Despite Travelodge making a big fuss about their ongoing session of upgrades to their hotel and Scunthorpe apparently being one of the hotels to benefit from this it honestly doesnt seem like it. The rooms at most appear to have had some new curtains and thats about it.
The floors as usual at scunthorpe werent clean, quite a lot of dirt in fact, and the bathroom grubby, the only reasonably clean part of the room was the bed, thankfully. The other odd thing i find is that despite being a non-smoking hotel this hotel always (and even more so this visit) smells of cigarette smoke, this possibly isnt helped by the staff that stand right in the front door smoking (meaning you have not only an unprofessional look to the place but you have to walk through it to get in to the hotel when they are smoking) but this wouldnt explain why the smell is in the first floor corridor, possibly need to get this sorted i think!
the location is ok but Travelodge really should have investested in some better quality windows as the current ones let in an awful lot of noise. Whilst still not great the rooms at the front over looking the car park are, contrary to normal thinking quieter, rooms are the back are plagued with noise from the trucks that use the service road for overnight parking, the refrigiration units and engines create too much noise.
Ok room and ok location, will do if you are on a budget but only when Travelodge have their sales on, not worth spending the normal £50+ for the rooms
