Looking for a couple of nights mid-week break we found this place on Laterooms but booked with them direct and got the same deal. As they're newly reopened we got the second night at half price. It stands on the main road through Aysgarth and backs onto fields leading down to the river and falls, a 5 minute walk away. It's well positioned too as a centre for touring the area's attractions. The hotel is newly refurbished to a high standard and is very comfortable. We had a choice of rooms and went for No 5 on the first floor at the back, which proved an excellent choice and had a great bathroom too.
The pub itself has a bar, a dining room with an open fire, and a conservatory. There's also a beer garden where you can sit, drink in hand, and watch the rabbits scurrying around the field. There's not a huge range of real ales on the bar but they're all very well kept, with the emphasis on the area's ubiquitous Theakstons and Black Sheep. The food though is gorgeous! It was all delicious, beautifully presented, and well priced for the quality you're getting. Breakfast is the usual buffet of cereals, fruit, juice etc, and a cooked option, again all excellent. You're not going to lose any weight whilst staying here!
The staff were all great, polite and helpful. Heather was interested to hear our comments and obviously takes notice of reviews, which sounds like someone keen to maintain high standards. At the time of writing this there was only one negative review here and I'm intrigued to know what disillusiond them so much. In our experience the other reviewers have pretty much hit the nail on the head.
To sum up - nice people, lovely accommodation, fabulous food. We're putting this one down as 'a find'!
Rooms at the back look over the fields towards the river.
