“Perfect!”

Stone House Hotel

14 Feb 2008

Stayed here for just one night with my elderley father when the weather was absolutely beautiful - the surrounding countryside looked stunning. We were in room 18 (Coach House) which had a wonderful view across the valley to Hawes. Accommodation, food and atmosphere of the hotel were perfect - very comfortable and welcoming. Would love to come back for longer next time.

“Loved it!”

Stone House Hotel

25 Nov 2007

Have just returned from a weekend at the Stone House Hotel and it was absolutely gorgeous. Upon arrival we were greeted by one of the owners who showed us to our room and was very friendly and happy to answer any questions we had. The four course meal in the evening was preceded by a lovely glass of wine in the lounge area which is beautifully decorated with wood panelling, log fire and leather couches, perfect for relaxing in. The dinner itself was fantastic, both in terms of quality, choice and service, and we didn't feel rushed at any point. The room was small but cosy and had a lovely view of the countryside, sheep included! Breakfast was delicious, with waitress service and a large choice of hot and cold dishes. Overall perfect place for a romantic getaway and left us both feeling refreshed and relaxed. Would definitely recommend and would go again!

“Romantic Hotel with family run atmosphere”

Stone House Hotel

6 Oct 2007

My husband and I stayed at the Stone House for our wedding anniversary, with our dog. We had a wonderful stay, nothing was too much trouble and we were treated like valued guests. All the staff without exception were friendly and welcoming. We stayed in the coach house room 19 which had a 4 poster bed. The room was very clean and presented nicely. The view was second to none, green fields with sheep, running water and a church. The food was plentiful and delicious. I can say that there was only one downside, the bath towels were not nearly big enough. You are provided with one bath and one hand towel each and it barely met around our middles! So my advice would be to go and stay at the hotel, especially if you are looking for romance, but take an extra towel with you!

If you are looking for a relaxing break then the Stone House Hotel is perfect. It is a short walk to Hawes and surrounded by beautiful scenery. The staff are all very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellent and the menu is changed daily and has something for everyone. You are not rushed between the four course evening meal and the selection of local cheeses is worth waiting for. Forget the diet for this break! You can adjourn to the relaxing lounge after dinner and chill in front of the coal fire with coffee or preferably a nice glass of wine. The rooms are spotlessly clean and very comfortable. We were lucky enough to get booked in a few weeks before for three nights but would advise booking ahead. There are some beautiful walks from the door.
In order to make the most of our 'relaxing weekend' we both enjoyed an Indian head massage and the best body massage I have ever had in 'The Ginger Tree' within the hotel grounds. Book before you arrive to avoid disappointment. This is our first visit to The Stone House Hotel but it was worthy of a review and we can't wait to book again. Believe me, you won't be disappointed!

Just spent a weekend here. Our 5th visit over a period of some 8 years. We'll start planning our 6th visit now!
A lovely Country House hotel in a quite beautiful setting. If you like walking, then the footpaths start just outside your door, and fabulous walking is available in any direction just a short drive away.
Upstairs Deluxe double room was very good, although there appeared to be very little soundproofing between it and the neighbours. Food was even better than we remembered it. Excellent local produce, simply cooked and well presented. Terrific breakfast with home made sausage, etc. Good wine list and local beers.
There were a lot of dog owners there during this visit - it is a dog-friendly hotel. All the dogs were very well behaved and so were their owners and they tended to collectively take over one of the lounges on an evening. Still lots of room for everyone else. if you are not a fan of dogs then this might not be the place for you. We can take them or leave them and it didn't bother us.

Overall, a great place in a beautiful part of the country. You will be made very welcome by (youngish) management and excellent staff and will come away relaxed and well fed.
