Just spent a weekend here. Our 5th visit over a period of some 8 years. We'll start planning our 6th visit now!
A lovely Country House hotel in a quite beautiful setting. If you like walking, then the footpaths start just outside your door, and fabulous walking is available in any direction just a short drive away.
Upstairs Deluxe double room was very good, although there appeared to be very little soundproofing between it and the neighbours. Food was even better than we remembered it. Excellent local produce, simply cooked and well presented. Terrific breakfast with home made sausage, etc. Good wine list and local beers.
There were a lot of dog owners there during this visit - it is a dog-friendly hotel. All the dogs were very well behaved and so were their owners and they tended to collectively take over one of the lounges on an evening. Still lots of room for everyone else. if you are not a fan of dogs then this might not be the place for you. We can take them or leave them and it didn't bother us.
Overall, a great place in a beautiful part of the country. You will be made very welcome by (youngish) management and excellent staff and will come away relaxed and well fed.
