Like many of the reviewers here, we stopped off to have a nice meal after spending the day in Alton Towers.
A carvery doesn't bode well when 3 of the group of 8 are veggie however, we were reassured there were veggie options so continued inside... then the fun began....
The owner's wife mixed up everyone's drink orders, charged people incorrectly and was so painstakingly slow that by the time our table had got their orders in, an hour had passed! no exaggeration! She made no effort to engage, apologise for the mistakes or make the slightest effort to make your experience a pleasant one.
After an hour it turned out there were only 2 servings of the only veggie option left... after waiting an hour to place your order in a not all that busy place you begin to get a tad frustrated. When we asked the waitress for an extra plate to share the 2 canneloni's between the 3 of us the chef immediately appeared and explained that that isn't normally how its done in here. He was fairly rude and struggled with himself to let us have an extra plate... the waitress did finally come back with a side plate for us to use.
We were called by number to the carvery table to collect the food whilst the visibly annoyed chef looked on and monitored how much was going onto people's plates. Above his head was a stuffed fox looking a bit mangy and hideous hanging on the wall.
The veggie option was actually quite pleasant however, according to the meat eaters, the meat was stale and chewy and not all that pleasant.
The chef, clearly dislikes people and the wife seems incapable of seeing through a small drinks order without completely messing it up!
We all had a good laugh about how terrible the place was but it wasn't cheap - it worked out at around 25 per head without alcoholic drinks! Very pricey for the "Faulty Towers" experience of dining here.
