Having enjoyed dining at the Nottingham restaurant on more than one occasion, it's fair to say that I expected the same high level of service when my partner and I decided to visit Anoki on the A38 last Sunday.
What we encountered, however, fell considerably below par.
The hostess greeted us indifferently upon arrival and showed us to our table, going through the set menu option with a marked lack of enthusiasm.
The restaurant wasn't very busy at all, yet despite this service was slow and extremely impersonal, particularly when we asked for the bill.
The waiter who somewhat robotically took our food order seemed very distracted, looking elsewhere for the majority of the time. The same man dropped our bill on the table as he passed, without any comment or thanks.
My partner ordered the Chicken Makhani which he noticed contained normal chicken and Tandoori chicken, which wasn't stated on the menu. He only knew the difference from the taste and the colour of the chicken. This could pose a problem for someone intolerant to Tandoori chicken.
The food was enjoyable, which was the only redeeming thing about our visit that evening. However, this is somewhat negated by the shockingly impersonal service from staff who clearly wished they were elsewhere.
