My partner and I stayed at Stanhill Court prior to flying out from Gatwick Airport as part of a package including accommodation, parking, and taxi transfer. Although we spent very little time at the hotel our first impressions were excellent. A lovely looking building within 4 miles of Gatwick our room was pleasant, comfortable and spacious, the shower being especially well liked! The staff were extremely helpful from booking until our 3am departure. If looking for an evening meal then there are 2 choices - an excellent looking menu at the hotel or Limes bistro in the village (not open on a Mon), or pile it high, cardiac inducing, deep fried processed everything for 10p at the Greyhound.

I had the pleasure of being invited to a wedding at this hotel.
What a nice place. You really get the feel of the Scottish Manor, everyone from Robert the manager to Bisi one of the dining staff, was most friendly. My room, the deluxe 4 poster room , was grand. Food and wine were 5 stars. Had a terrific 2 night stay there . It made for a relaxing time away from home.
Only negative was the initial greeting. As I was arriving at 9am from an overnight flight, I did want to sleep a little. The lady at the reception said, and I quote: Go away, come back at 3pm, we do not check-in anyone before that time. I calmly explained that I had checked the website before leaving home and I knew there was avilability the night before , therefore could she please look and find an empty room for me. After a huff and a puff , she checked and the room was indeed available. . Aside from that , the stay was perfect.. Rapport quality and price is great.

Stayed overnight before flying off on holiday, and parked car there for two weeks.

Excellent facilities, very quiet and with lovely grounds. Restaurant of good standard and not too expensive.

All in all a convenient and comfoftable place to stay, highly recommended.

Ok, I booked into this hotel the morning of my stay not knowing what to expect as the hotel I usually stay in the Gatwick area was full. I was expecting the usual grey and faceless airport hotel.

This hotel couldn't be more different - for a start its not that close to the airport which for me is great as it is quiet, and the building itself has considerable charm and cachet. When I drove up it was a very pleasant surprise to see a Victorian Manor house rather than drab Hilton or other faceless chain hotel.

I had room 1, which I would recommend to anyone. This is a large room with fireplace and stunning views across the gardens. My only minor complaint would be a bathroom that felt like it had been fitted out quite cheaply (and did not do justice to the rest of the hote, which has exquisite detailing and finish) but it certainly did the job well and would still be an improvement over the usual chain hotel washing facilities.

Overall I would rate this hotel as being very good - I will certainly be returning and would recommend this for both family holidays and business.

We stayed at the Stanhill as part of a wedding party. I have to stay that the hotel met or exceeded expectations on almost every count.
Firstly the location is very convienent for motorways / airports, without any of the noise associated with them.
Sceondly the location - idyllic. Driving up to the house there is a wonderful tree lined driveway with statues on both sides. The house nestles in a wooded glade at the front entrance, opening out onto the grounds and views across the downs at the rear.
Thirdly the staff - at all times I dealt with them they were attentive, helpful and unfailingly polite, even though some members of the wedding party could at best be termed difficult.
Fourthly the room - we stayed in a room in the old part, overlooking the downs. I think in summer it could be a little warm, as mentioned in a previous review. However during our stay it was fine, with a clean room and a comfortable bed
Lastly - The food. The meal served at the wedding was very good, and the buffet later matched it. The breakfast the following morning was also tasty, even if for a short while there was a lack of tea and bowls.
Overall - a resounding recommendation. Good location, comfortable surroundings and good food.
For a relaxing time search out the library - a great place to round off the evening
