“Great Hotel”

Croydon Park Hotel

I thought this hotel was amazing. We stayed for the weekend and had great service through out.
The room was lovely, big, spacious, clean and had a very confortable bed and sofa. Tea and coffee making facilities were good..
We had breakfast included in or stay and the oscars restaurant was very nice, great service and plenty to choose from at the buffet.
Room service again great, staff were pleasant and friendly and very helpful.
The rrom was cleaned daily. We had fresh sheets, towels, glasses and cups.
I very much enjoyed my stay at this hotel and will definatly be going back. It is a good locationg to access the shopping centre and train staton.
The only think a bit taxing was going back in to get a car park key as it runs out after 4 hours so if you are out longer you have to park out side the hotel get a key and then drive back to the car bark which is at the back.
Over all great stay!

“can be noisy”

Croydon Park Hotel

20 Jul 2007

I have stayed at the Croydon Park several times on business.
This may have been a 4 star in the 1980s but could not be considered this now, I understand it is due for renovation starting in 2007?
The main problems I experienced was noise intrusion through the single glazed metal windows especially the front of the hotel, the windows were often streaming with condensation, also noise intrusion from adjacent rooms through the studwork partion walls ( I could hear the person next door snoring)there is no fridge in the rooms and the bed linen is old fashioned with woollen type blankets instead of a duvet.
Used room service trays are left uncollected outside guests rooms all night and make the hallways smell from dirty plates and cutlery.
The room televisions have only the basic channels and a bedside radio would have been good.
The bar could be so smokey that I had to take my drinks away and sit in reception, a proper extractor should have been used for this internal room, but from July 2007 the smoking ban finally arrived for England.
The things I did like were, the restaurant, from 18.30-19.30 the buffet evening meal was £12.50. The buffet breakfast was very good too. The swimming pool/leisure club was free to guests and that was good.
The rooms have a bath and shower which is good.
The hotel, rooms and bathrooms were kept very clean.
The staff were helpful.

“Great for business”

Early 1980's build hotel 3 minute walk from East Croydon station (rail connection to London 15mins, Gatwick 20mins) and the excellent Whitgift shopping facilities.

Medium sized hotel with good sized rooms, a little dated now, as everything is teak, but good quality, clean and at a reasonable rate. Only unpleasant surprise was the restaurant, not a bad buffet but at £20, a bit expensive.

If you are in business in Croydon definitely recommended, also of you are in London, this hotel is only 30 minutes away. Good pool and gym too.

I recently attended a residential training course at the Croydon Park Hotel. I had stayed there before some years ago and was told it had been refurbished. On arrival I noticed that the foyer and bar area had been re-done. Overall, it looked smart and welcoming. Check-in was fast and efficient.
It seems the refurbishment was restricted to the public areas. The room, which overlooked a building site was as I remembered, right down to the bedspreads. Whilst the room was clean and tidy, it looked somewhat dated. The bed was a standard double, with 3 thin foam pillows provided. The bedlinen was old, worn sheets and a 'nubby' blanket. No extra blankets were provided so as it was February the heating had to stay on all night. The bathroom was also clean and was supplied with basic toiletries, although the bath was very small and certainly not conducive to a relaxing soak.
Given that Croydon is primarily a business district, I was very surprised that the hotel provided no Internet access, something that should be standard in a 4* property in a business area. No hair dryer also and as I had brought my own I didn't enquire with reception whether the hotel could provide one but again, this is something that you expect a 4* hotel to provide in-room. Room service was available but after about 10pm, this is restricted to a small selection of sandwiches.
The hotel restaurant was typical in it's aspirant grandeur. As course delegates, buffet lunches and dinners were provided. I think the cost would have been around £12.50 for 3 courses and coffee, although in the evening this price is only available until around 7.30-8.00. It was good value for money, with a wide selection of fish and cooked meats to start and a choice of 4 or 5 dishes for the main course which were OKish, as were the puddings.
All the staff I dealt with were very courteous however the course leader reported that he had encountered problems in the setting up of the conference room and indeed in spite of the hotel being told repeatedly how many delegates there would be and the preferred formation of the room, the tables were arranged completely wrongly and with a chair short. Complaints at reception were greeted with charming politeness but an inability to understand the problem or do anything about it. We found an extra chair and made do in the end.
Overall, the hotel was fairly good value for money if you get an Internet deal or similar. If you have to stay in Croydon there is very little choice. This is the only 4* property with a central location, and it's position near the train station and tram stops is very convenient. For this reason, I would stay there again.

“Good hotel”

Croydon Park Hotel

5 Jan 2007

My husband and I stayed here on a dinner, bed and breakfast package for New Year's Eve. The staff were polite and friendly. The rooms were clean and the food was good although, having eaten in Oscars restaurant on several other occasions, I thought it was not quite as good as normal. The only downside of the hotel I think are that the walls are fairly thin. The people in the room next to ours were very noisy but we were able to move to another room on request.
