“Exclusive Hotel this is not. Very Shabby”
Well, where to start. We arrived excited for our weekend away and having the idea that it must be nice if it was next to Bushy Park and accross from Hampton Court Palace Gardens. Unfortunately this excitment was short lived. We entered the very tired, paint flaking in desperate need of a cash injection property on a very busy road to be met with a receptionist that didnt understand english and stood smiling at us. I think the manager then arrived and eventually found the booking, gave us a key and indicated to the "Mews" part accross the road. We walked through an old courtyard (that could be beautiful) and up very dark dirty staircase with wallpaper peeling off and a smell of damp to our room. We entered to find a very small double room which on the face of it looked like it was recently refurbished. We then actually opened our eyes to see a very bad amateur DIY attempt. There was a 6" rip in the net curtain which was yellow and mouldy. There were two cracked window panes and the rotting sash window didnt open. The toilet would not stop flushing and the headboard was filthy. I could go on but will leave it there for now. We went back to reception and the manager was astonished that we werent happy and informed us that was one of the better rooms. We were offered to look at another and fell about laughing as the man was right.... it was better, albeit we did decide thisnew room was better as at least we could see out the window and look at hampton court palace gardens. In this room, the alleged sky is actually freeview but the aerial plugged in doesnt actual transmit anything and therefore the precariously placed hanging TV doesn't work. We had a double mattress on a king size bed and some of the curtains were hanging off. The bathroom tiles on the floor were broken cracked and wobbling, the toilet continued to flush for about ten minutes after use and the shower screen was actually siliconed to the bath and wobbled around. Do I have good points, well the breakfast is edible, the rooms are at least clean with hot water for a decent shower and the parking is a bonus but the real plus was the wild parrots that visit the tree in the courtyard at dusk which was amazing to see. Other than that a huge cash injection is needed as this hotel could be amazing as is in a fantastic location and could be quite an amazing place to stay. Such a shame. Warning whatever you make of this review please do not pay full price to stay here, if you just want a bed to rest your head and will be out all the time then get a late deal as it really is only worth hostel prices not hotel prices.
