“Poor from the outset!”

Holiday Inn London - Sutton

Six of us stayed for a recent family visit.

We were charged £7 for the privilige of parking each night, the evening meal was not cooked correctly & overpriced - no offer of appeasement was made. We returned the meals & chose to eat in town for the remainder of the weekend - it was cheaper.

The bar was also overpriced - my pensioner father was charged £3.80 for a bottle of water - we were refunded after a debate with the barman. We chose not to use the bar at all after this - it was cheaper to use the pub/bars up the road. The bar & restaurant would benefit from more custom if these problems were rectified & the staff would break a smile occasionally - these areas were empty to what appeared to be a fairly full hotel!

Newspapers were delivered to our rooms which weren't ordered - the hotel actually refunded me for this, but my father who did order, didn't receive a one.

The breakfast was good - but again, a lot of glum looking staff.

We recently stayed at the Holiday Inn at Guildford, the service there was excellent! I would recommend Guildford to Sutton if you are planning a visit to the area.

“Not bad at all”

Holiday Inn London - Sutton

Very polite reception staff and an upgrade to a Executive room. all in all a very good deal, £49 per night for B&B per room.

Room was adequate, but very quite, heating/aircon worked well.

Breakfast was above average with plenty to choose from be it hot or cold, staff were very friendly and efficient.

Would recomend this hotel for sure. Parking costs £7 a night though.

“Far exceeded expectations. Will definitely stay again”

I visited the Holiday Inn as a day guest. Me being one of a group of 15 girls on a hen weekend! We chose the Holiday Inn because of the good value for each of us to use the spa. We had full use of the pool, gym, sauna, jacuzzi and choice of either a facial, back massage or manicure for about £30 per person. I used all the facilities including the sun bed and was very impressed. The therapists were excellent. Each of us were very happy with the treatment we had and they use lovely Dermalogica products.
We were all quite shocked at how expensive the food was but when we checked into the spa we were given 25% discount cards to use on foor and drinks. This made a big difference and brought the price much more in line with good pub food prices for sandwiches, chips etc. The food also was fantastic. Obviously with there being 15 of us we had a good selection of the menu. It was brought out quickly, very fresh and very tasty. There were no complaints from any of us!
The staff in the entire hotel were friendly and the hotel was completely spotless. We hired a room as well to enable us to get ready for a night out. Again the room was very clean - no dust even on top of the wardrobe! The room was light and spacious.
We used the bar as well which was shockingly expensive but nice. A single Bacardi & Coke was over £4.
There were also plenty of car parking spaces in the car park.
On the whole I was really imressed and will definitely return even if only to use the spa.

“Exhorbitant, limited facilities, poor service”

Holiday Inn London - Sutton

Arriving late morning from the US, we were charged a fee of GBP25 for early check in. We then went to breakfast. There was very little left on the buffet and it was dried out from being under the lamps too long, yet we were still charged something like GBP15 each. Then discovered that the hotel did not have internet in the rooms although represented on the hotel website to have it. Complained about these things but received no restitution in any form. Room very basic for a hotel at this price. There is a shortage of hotels in this part of London so they can get away from poor service and prices that are high in relation to the basic nature of the facilities (we needed to stay in this area to visit family). On a later trip, we discovered a very nice hotel in the same area - the Greyhound in Carshalton, an 18th century coaching inn, which we thoroughly recommend.

“Very pleasant stay!”

Myself and several colleagues stayed in this hotel most nights of each week for the past 12. We have been staying on business.

The rooms are spacious, clean and well presented (certainly the newly decorated ones). Beds are large with a selection of different pillows shoud you require. I would say becareful if you get a corner room as some of these are near the air conditioning system which can get a bit noisey about 11pm...

The breakfast is excellent.. Plenty of choice of hot and cold foods.

We ate evening meals in the restaurant and bar also and found the food to be generally poor. Its like they really try but cant quite get it right.. Not cheap either

Drinks are pricey too with a bottle of house red costing about £16.50 and a beer (depending on which brand you have) between £3.50 and £4... I suppose this is normal for Southern prices but I still think its steep.

There is also a gym and pool. The gym is quite small but has everything you might need and the pool has a jacuzzi. There is also a steam room and sauna.

The hotel staff are very good... always courteous and pleasant and willing to help resolve any problems,.

Overall, would i stay again? Yeah i probably would however we had our acommodation payed by clients and got quite a good rate and I'm not sure the value of the hotel at standard rates.
