I'm from Brighton and was visiting my good friends Michael and Warren in Petworth last weekend and they decided to take me to the recently-refurbished Angel Inn. I believe the inn dates back to the 14th century (my friend Warren tells me - I think he was actually around when it was originally built). There is a large bar area with tables for dining all around as well as a log fire near the entrance. At the rear there is a spacious patio with more tables and chairs. We ate there twice at the weekend and on each occasion we were in for a treat! The menu is pretty comprehensive and included veggie options which my friend Shauna loved. My favourite, though, was the Sunday lunch. I had half a roast chicken with roast potatoes, a selection of veg and cauliflour cheese. Lovely! Freshly cooked and excellent value - I think mine was £10.50 but to be honest I was looking enviously at Warren's roast lamb and wished I had opted for that - a generous portion of thick chunks of local lamb - I will definitely have that next time! And a word for the staff - pretty waitresses (Camille) and handsome bar boys (Flynn) giving friendly, smiling service. I can't wait to go back!
