The good: The park is very nice with lots of paved trails for biking, tons of wildlife to view and very well maintained. Taking bikes with you is well worth it. Staying in a cabin also gives you full access to the lodge which has a nice indoor pool with play area for the kids as well as a good sized outdoor pool. There were alot of activities to keep the kids busy in the lodge area. We also rented kayaks on Lake Erie and had a nice time (jet skis, canoes, and pontoon boats were also available).
The bad: The 4 bedroom deluxe cabin left a lot to be desired. The upstairs bedrooms had large open "windows" that overlooked the living room. You could only see into the bedrooms if someone was standing right at the window. But, you can hear absolutely everything going on downstairs from the bedrooms (like you are sitting next to them). Once someone was up and moving around downstairs, everyone upstairs was up. We had a group where everyone wanted to go to bed and wake up at different times. Lack of sleep puts a damper on the vacation. They need to come up with a way to close these windows at night. The members of our group in the downstairs bedrooms would give the cabins a better review -- unfortunately I wasn't one of them. The carpets, chair pads, etc in the cabin were pretty dirty and could have used replaced. Some general maintenance such as painting, doors not closing, etc needed done. If you looked under any furniture you could tell that no one had cleaned anything except the main traffic patterns in a long time. Cleanliness was below average. There was a nice large table for eating and quite a bit of seating in the living room (we had 11 in the cabin). Breakfast at the lodge was good. We ordered a pizza from there one night and it was bad, really bad. Went to Tony Packos which was really close and food was good, restaurant was very nice -- well worth it. Only other issue was they have a big inland lake but they took the canoes and pedal boats off that lake and put them on a tiny one that was not worth doing in our opinion. Some in our party wanted to do that but were scared of kayaking on Erie. We went on a calm day and it went great. My kids had a great time (they sleep through anything). We are an active family and overall I would say we all had a good time, but I would never consider renting the 4 bedroom cabin again.
