This lodge was perfect to accomidate a large amount of people for the weekend.
Our drive from Dallas was pretty exausting in the summer heat and to arrive at such an oasis as this, all the stresses are deffinately forgotten!
This is a stone lodge that sits nestled in the Arbuckle Hills and you can see nothing but nature when you take EXIT 51 and turn into the property.
YOU NEED TO BRING YOUR OWN:
Bedding, towels, bathing items, toiletries, fans, extension cords, food, dishes, etc.
The place is there all you gotta do is bring the stuff there to make it happen!
INSIDE THE LODGE:
There is a huge floor space with 9 or 10 futon beds that when folded out to make double beds or set upright seves as a couch for lounging or sleeping. There is a small spiral stair case that leads to some lofts above the kitchen area that can be used for more sleeping quarters.
The fully equipped kitchen facilites with a microwave, coffee maker, oven, and industrial refridgerator were very clean. Stainless steel prep table and sink area working properly, there was an ice machine that dispenced crushed ice at the ready.
The bar area served well to place several dishes and/or other things that anyone may need counter space for. It has sturdy booths and 2 tables with chairs for dinning. There is a large stone hearth fireplace for use in the winter or chilly weather and an old upright piano for entertainment. Very warm and inviting for all seasons. The 2 seperate bathrooms were in working order for gents with and single vanity, the ladies had a double vanity. The central air was a plus for the hot weather.
The staff is very quick to handle any concern or request you might have. Trash pick up daily. GOOD PEOPLE.
OUTSIDE THE LODGE:
You get a feeling of security and privacy in the serene place surounded nature.
The parking lot had plenty of room for many cars of all sizes and grounds were clean with a blacktop parking area and road leading to the lodge from the highway.
The mian dock on the side of the lodge is a bit weather worn and has plenty of life left for other visitors in the future. It has a ladder on the side for use.
(My favorite spot! Perfect for couples at night to look at the pond or gaze at the moon at night or as I used it, for yoga and meditation at night and in the morning.) There were canoes for use and a fishing barge that the kids and grandpa loved. There was floating raft for sun bathing or just sticking your feet in the water. There were also sitting areas to the side of the lodge as well with 2 smokers for outdoor cooking use.
The 2nd dock was the tallest and a little more secluded to the side as well, but not very sound or sturdy for goofing off on, perfect for fishing though or alone time.
I loved having the opportunity to be a part of the Smith family reunion, we had over 50 people last year and it was just as wonderfull this year. THE FRIED PIES ARE AWESOME! STOP IN AND BUY YOU ONE OR A DOZEN!
