I've been to Turner Falls 3 times...once in the winter, once on a holiday, and once in the summer and each time has been a different experience. In the winter (Early November 2007) I think there were only like 10 people total in the park. It was very quiet, very peaceful, and really nice to have the place to ourselves. We did some hiking and had an overall relaxing day. On the holiday (Labor day 2008) IT WAS PACKED!! I guess everyone had the same idea because I have never seen so many people in my life! Yes, with this many people, it did feel kind of dirty but eventually (after a lot of wandering) we found a quite area to put down our stuff and actually get away from most of the crowds. In the summer (June 2009) there was a fair amount of people in the park but it was not busting at the seams (like Labor Day). The pools at the entrance and where the actual falls are were relatively empty with most of the throngs of people BBQing and laying out up and down the river. All in all I enjoy Turner Falls... would I drive hours and hours to get to this park? No, but for a quick daytrip from N. Dallas where I reside it is a fun place to go to get away from the city.

This was our first trip to Turner Falls. It was my husband and I by ourselves and we rented a screened shelter for $40 per night. This did not include the $9.99 per person per day entry fee, so the costs were steep for camping.

The park was fairly empty with only a few tent campers, and two RV's. If there were more people and noise, it may have changed our opinion of the park, but we had a good time. All of the restrooms were clean and stocked, and we were able to purchase wood and other small items at the Trading Post. Most of the campers were families with children, and I would not hesitate to come and spend the day at the Blue Hole or the Bridalveil Falls area.

We look forward to returning with our grandchildren.

I am not sure what the other reviewers problems were with the park b/c our experience was great especially on a busy Memorial weekend. We have never been to Turner Falls before and after reading all the horrible reviews I was afraid our trip would be a bust but to my surprise it was great. We drove over 8 hours from Missouri to the park.

Our group consisted of my husband, myself, my father in law, my son who is 7 and my daughter who is 3 and we stayed in our pop-up camper in the RV park. We arrived at 1pm on Friday, May 22nd and the park wasn't crowded at all. We had a lot of RV spaces to choose from which all of them had a concrete pad, a picknick table, a nice bbq grill, both 30 & 50 amp electric outlets and water hook ups. Right next to the RV section was a very clean bathhouse that had 4 toilet stalls and 2 shower stalls on the women's side (not sure if the mens had the same or not).

We stayed from Friday, May 22nd until late afternoon on Sunday, May 24th. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There was always officers patrolling the areas at least every 15 min. either on an ATV, in a golf cart or in a vehicle. I saw the staff constantly cleaning the bathrooms and emptying the trash cans several times a day. They even came around each morning to offer every campsite trash bags if needed. We visited most of the park's attractions and was pleased with all of it.

The park really didn't get busy until late Saturday and by Sunday it was crawling with people so you have to expect there to be some trash, loud campers, etc with that many people. The staff tried to keep up with everything the best they could but there are only so many employees and hundreds upon hundreds of campers so by Sunday there was trash on the ground, in the water and the bath houses weren't the cleanest but I can say that when we arrived on Friday before the crowd, everything was very very clean and well maintained. We didn't even have any problems with our fellow campers, we met the neighbors on either side of us which both groups had young kids and everyone was very friendly and helpful.

I loved several features that the park offered such as the ice cream shop, restraunt, well stocked main general store, several playground areas throughout the park, an abundance of bath houses and the mini stores all throughout the primitive camping areas. It was so nice not having to walk or drive miles to the main store for a bag of ice, lighter fluid, bug spray, etc.

My kids had a blast and so did the adults, we would definately visit again.

Our trip was a nightmare. The staff is very rude and doesn't like to answer questions about the park. The police there are a joke. Around 10 at night we decided to call the park police because there were a large group of bikers next to us who were soooo loud and drunk and using such profanity. My kids couldn't sleep. The police came and ??shared a few laughs with this group?? and then came to our site (Really smart) to let us know they came. Within minutes a drunk and scary man came walking down to our site making crazy sounds, hiding in the bushes and throwing rocks at us. We called the police to come, and they caught this drunk man, but did nothing to him except ask him to go back to his campsite. They didn't ask him to leave the park. We were too scared to stay so packed up our stuff at 2 in the morning while the police waited for our safety. We were not given a refund. In the future I will camp at a place with some level of customer service and understanding. I have to trust in the police there. I think they were actually scared of what this large group of drunk bikers might do to them if they were to ask them to leave. I didn't feel safe there and will not be back.
