Enjoyed a relaxing stay at the Bridge Creek Flora Inn the end of April. Found the place to be a true gem. We had the downstairs suite with private bath in the older house (c.1905). Loved the antique decor and down-to-earth welcome! Breakfast was super! Great sausage, farm-fresh eggs and a whole raft of tasty pancakes. Nice trimmings too, fresh orange slices, excellent coffee by the carafe, juice and cake. We were stuffed until dinnertime! Fossil is a truly quiet town, has benches all up and down the main drag where people visit. There is one tavern and one cafe. People wave, including the Sheriff. Behind the High School, on the hillside are fossils in shale that you can dig for. The scenery is awesome, ranging from piney canyons with sheer rock walls to desert sagebrush. The cattle look buffed. It is somewhat of a trip back in time.
