We spent 3 days exploring the Columbia River Gorge and had a variety of "options" on our list of activities and sightseeing. This museum was a very pleasant surprise. A little pricey ($30 for a family of 3), but it's a nonprofit and working hard to give a good experience - which it did.
We're not big plane or car buffs, but we each found things of interest here. We spent about 2 hours and thoroughly enoyed the time. There are a variety of old motorcycles, vintage planes, sea planes, military planes and vehicles, beautifully restored cars, and memorabilia. Many of the vehicles and planes are one of only a few remaining today, and all are in running condition.
The folks who run the show are volunteers, very friendly, and extremely knowledgeable. We chatted with one gentleman who was responsible for many of the restorations, mostly military vehicles. He provided some great background info and tidbits that just made the experience very ineresting. Our son, age 11, was not bored in the least. He wandered around with interest and enjoyed a movie on the Wright Brothers.
A very enjoyable experience for our entire family.
