The Old Parkdale Inn was perfect for me. It is nestled in a quiet rural town and has a great view of majestic Mt. Hood. Old Parkdale Inn is an elegant craftsman style home that has a rich history (ask Mary and Steve, the wonderfully informative hosts).
My room was the Gaughin Room, decorated in a bright, wonderful theme to commemorate the famous French impressionist painter. The bed is so comfortable I didn't want to leave it! A private deck gives the impression you are in a tree house overlooking the beautiful garden. Amenities in this room are great: private bath, fridge stocked with beverages, microwave, TV/DVD, many books, etc.
Feeling pet-deprived during your travels? Tilly, the inn's Swiss Mountain Dog, will take you for a walk.
I was toured through the other two rooms, also named after famous painters, Claude Monet and Georgia O'Keefe. They are beautiful suites with a full kitchen and sumptuous-looking beds.
Now, on to the breakfast! Seated at a great wooden table, I was served coffee, juice, home made jams, a scone and waffles so good they should be patented! It all looked almost too good to eat.
Although I was by myself this time, I would love to return here with my family. The Old Parkdale Inn is kid-friendly and pet-friendly and they are close to local hiking and ski areas. We could have a great family vacation here.
