If you ever come to Portland, be sure to visit the Waffle Window...located on SE Hawthorne, and about 36th, it is located adjacent to the Bread and Ink Restaurant (another GREAT place to eat). They are open late night, and serve varieties of savory waffles as well as sweet, and waffles to walk around with. You are served one waffle square, topped with such delicacies as swiss cheese, a nice slab of ham, gruyere cheese and maple syrup, one of the savory varieties. Or, you can try the waffle topped with raspberries, lemon curd, and whipped cream. The best idea is to order multiples and share. At around $4-$5 a waffle, you can afford a few. They also have frozen waffles you can take home to create your own. It can get busy on weekends, of course, but most definitely worth the wait.
