I needed a Park and Fly out of the Portland Oregon airport region and the Hilton Garden Inn had the cheapest price of everyone comparable in quality. The rooms were fine, nothing fancy but good space and clean. The television was on the small side and didnt have very many stations but did have HBO.

It was raining in Portland which is nothing new for this time of year. At 7:30 in the morning while I was in the bathroom getting ready for the day the ceiling started pouring water thru the ventelation grate. I shut off the hair dryer and called the front desk. They said that maintenance would be up in 5 minutes. I left the room in 15 without seeing anyone.

What bothered me was that in the morning there was a hot breakfast buffet with the usual waffle machine and some covered dishes one scoop from empty for scrambled eggs, bacon and potatoes. All I wanted was juice, coffee and a muffin so that is all I had. After I sat down with this trio I was told it was a $7.95 cost. They pointed out the sign to me which was overhead and I had missed it. I had assumed it was free.

I went to the front desk where I had already checked out and told them that I would not be paying for the "meal" as I was greatly inconvienced with the torrent of water in the bathroom and while surprised at my words, the woman behind the counter agreed with me. I took the shuttle and flew off.

On the return back to Portland I found that the hotel was not listed on the phone bank which shows all the hotels in the area to call for the shuttle. I had to find information on my cell phone, find the phone number and call for the shuttle which is actually the shuttle for the Courtyard by Marriott. I should have been told this when I checked in for the Park and Fly along with a card with the number to call.

Small things for certain but the breakfast was nothing more than you can get at Hampton Inn or Comfort Inn or Holiday Inn. The rain pouring in from the roof is a maintenance issue and can happen to everyone. The total lack of caring that it did happen however is unexpected and unacceptable. For this I wont be staying here again.

We came to stay and catch an erly flight in the morning. The room was nice, the sofa very comfortable. The bed seemed well used but adequate. Small annoiances were the GRF lites on the sockets and the clock on the microwave were too bright. Since these were located at table level we could see them in the dark while tryin to sleep. The only major problem was the noise. This is an interior hotel and unlike others I have stayed in, people walking in the halls and even in there own rooms were very noisy in our room.

After a very bad experience at a nearby hotel, we called to see if a room was available so we could move. The person on the phone was very pleasant and helpful. When we arrived, the desk clerk gave us the keys to three rooms so we could make a choice, She was very welcoming and customer service oriented. The desk staff and the staff at breakfast were cheerful, accomodating and pleasant. We asked the desk clerks for a recommendation for lunch before we caught our flight and they sent us to Salty's on the river which was an excellent choice. If you want a resonable, comfortable hotel at the airport , I would certainly recommend this property.

I booked this for Hilton credits as it was the cheapest offering in the Portland area that night. What a mistake! The bedding was horrific and ill-fitting. I don't know where they got their mattress pads, but I could feel the icky texture of mine through the sheets. The fitted sheet kept comingn off during the night. My "suite" was odd in that there wasa a large empty space where a table should have been - I ended up having to leave my stuff in the "living room" area instead.
