Large wonderfully laid out garden primarily to display many tagged Iris varieties, many available for sale in the warehouse. The fields surround the Garden and Sales area.
There are plenty of porta potties, well maintained.
We use the Picnic tables when we go. There is some snack food for sale but we bring our Picnic in.
Ample parking.
Absolutely my favorite gardens. Much more than a field of flowers. These are very artistic gardens with spectacular flowers.
Of course, it has to be the right time of year - late spring....but if you like flowers and are traveling I5 between Salem and Portland, OR it is worth a stop! Not just Iris in the Gardens but preniuals that go with - giant lupine, clematis, delphinium, rodies, and other blooming trees. The gardens are larger than the last time I visited several years ago. It was a riot of color - wanted to have a book, glass of wine and take a chair and to stay awhile. Can buy cut iris and place orders for Iris rhizomes. They have been shipping rhizomes for almost 90 years! Congratulations to an Oregon icon. You could smell the perfume of the iris all around the garden.
The selection of Iris plants is extensive. Beyond that the grounds and facilities are beautiful. There are also selected other plants. But it is the quality of the Iris plants themselves that is the draw.
when the irises are in bloom, take a basket and a bottle and enjoy a picnic in eden.
Our friends got married there. We go often to stroll the gardens and buy Irises. It is a delicious summer experience.
