As a native of Tillamook County it's great to see the hotel
come back to life. The owners have done an outstanding job
of refurbishing . I hope they take the time to write a history from
the day the bought the hotel to the day they opened for business.
We loved the place.

We arrived at the Old Wheeler hotel at the end of a long traveling day. Upon arrival we had a great Wow! energizing moment the minute we saw the hotel from the outside. We stepped into the darling foyer to find an envelope bearing our names and welcoming us. Inside were keys and all pertinent info. (We arrived while the manager was out on an errand.) We went upstairs through the piano parlour (neat-o!) and located the door to our room. Another note welcoming us with our names. When we opened the door to our room another pleasant surprise. The bed and bedding were beautiful. A teddy bear was on the bed with a note of greeting for us. This hotel's decor has been designed by an artist. A color theme of soft yellow and red throughout. Every detail attended too- but you feel very comfortable there as they intend. Everything has been done to create a wonderful mood and setting. The living/dining room where you can hang out and where you breakfast is great. Lovely breakfast. It is a really fun place to stay ! We were charmed. Want to go back for sure.

From the moment we got to the Old Wheeler Hotel, we couldn't stop saying, "look at that," or "and we payed how much for this?" It was obvious that a lot of care went into this place. Old Wheeler Hotel has a very bed and breakfast feel. You get your name posted by your door, there are snacks available in the common room, and the view... worth far more than you'll pay. We hated leaving to do tourist-y stuff! A definite place to head for relaxation.
There are stairs to climb with no elevator access, and the walls are not sound-proofed since the building is an antique... but this all adds to the ambiance of the place. There are earplugs provided, and we had no problems with noise even on a night when all the rooms were occupied.
My only worry in writing this review is that too many people will flock to this hotel, driving prices beyond what we can afford. Guess I'll have to hurry back - if for no reason than to use the china and antique spoons to eat my Tillamook yogurt for breakfast while looking out at the bay!

We recently stay at this Hotel and can attest to its unique quietness and nostalgia. The Hotel is right on Highway 101 but the double pane windows block out nearly all the road noise. Great to wake up in the morning and watch the fisherman in the river trolling for the mornings catch. We even caught an occasional glimpse of the neighborhood pesky seal that seems to have learned to take advantage of the local fishing activities. We were in room 4, which has a great in room whirlpool tub and huge comfy bed. The breakfast is self-serve and filling and again great views out of the common room.
This isn’t a bed and breakfast per say in that the owners are pretty much out of sight unless you need something. They did pop in for a quick morning hello but if you are used to B & B type morning chatter this isn’t the place.
